Yup. Just trying to relief my sorrows as I find that the Wild Wasteland trait excludes the YCS/186 from the save ;)

Gauss Rifle (don't have the unique yet), Laser RCW and the Pulse Gun. Honorary mention goes to the Incinerator, being able to set thing on fire tens of meters away is pure win :D

Gauss Rifle, of course.

I haven't seen it yet (and I'm level22).
Re: Fallout3
On PC, anything zapped with laser/plasma would never again respawn, so I'm trained to never use them.
Good old bullets for me...
However it's a new game!
I do have a 100% plasma rifle, and some one-of-a-kind laser rifle, that I never use.
So thanks for the reminder - I'm gonna goo-pile some guys...
Regards

The Gauss is pretty cool, but the Plasma Caster (aka the proper plasma rifle) is the business.

I'm liking the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle. It has terrible accuracy in VATS, despite 100 Energy Weapon skill and Trigger discipline. But outside of VATS, it's incredibly accurate. As long as the enemy isn't heavy armored I'll tear through them.

But it chews through ammo like my dog chews through his toys.

If you have the Pyromaniac perk the Flamer is a decent replacement for a shotgun.

I use bullets always have and always will, im still upset the gauss rifle went from small gun in fallout 2 to energy weapon in fallout 3/nv, and to no pistol form in 3 or nv(not sure about this, but i havnt read about it)

that being said the pulse gun is [censored] powerful, who needs pulse nades anymore?

Incinerator.
It's fun as hell until enemies and DT become too high.
All that remains is to sell it to Old Lady Gibson for some minor caps.

Plasma Caster is by far my favourite -- for looks and killing power. The Defender is a nice side arm.

I'm just starting my Energy Specialist playthrough, and I think i'm going to thoroughly enjoy the Plasma Defender and Gauss Rifle, also I just got the Q32 Matter Modulator at level 7

The Plasma Caster brought back some fuzzy memories - it doesn't hurt that it's powerful, to boot.

Also, the Plasma Defender and Laser RCW for looks.

Pew Pew
Yeah, 15 energy cells is pretty expensive to fire. But it does 75 damage per shot. It's a pistol.

I'd have to say the best is Plasma Caster, most versatile + efficient.

Bit i have a question for q-35 = http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Q-35_Matter_Modulator

is that 99 crit damage correct?

1. Multiplas - as costly as it is in ammo having a plasma shotgun is simply awesome. My Deathclaw go-to gun.
2. Gauss. Might as well be called the best gun in the game overall...
3. Plasma Defender. Good spammer and all-rounder. Something you carry around in safer areas to conserve energy.
