your followers death journal.

hey i want to know how your followers died, if u remember where and how exactly..
ill use every single follower i can get my hands on, my first one was lydia, she died very recently..she only lasted 2 skyrim days with me. We were sent by the companions in jorrvaskr to kill a vampire in broken fang cave just west of whiterun halfway to rorikstead.
a few skeletons guarded the first floor, the cave was very small. There was a male vampire that caused me alot of damage, but lydia could care less, she swinged the axe of whiterun i received from jarl balgruuf. ( nothing special just a steel two handed axe )
the vampire guy had a vampire practice student necromancer woman, she had the vampirism absorb health spell, with that she slowly drained lydia's health making her fall down to one knee.
I aimed at the vampire lord with my orcish bow of soul snares, he was behind the whole action and i swear i hit him, but at that point i saw lydia die out of the absorb health vampire technique the vampire lord's student was applying on her.
after a while i killed both and their little bandit throll they were summoning..dunno where they found that one but oh well..
after all of this i disposed out of all lydia's clothes and i shut her dead body inside a cage with some bloody raggs nearby.
a sad ending..she served me well but now she's gonna rott in that little cave. i'm yet to receive the courier's message of my payment for her departure.
I could still revive her by re-loading the game but i dont care.
my next pal will be sven, lets see for how long he lasts and where will he die on.

My only longterm companion was Erandur. We traveled the world together for the majority of my character's lifespan, but died tragically in that huge Dwemer ruin you go to in the MQ. I still miss him telling me that he used to be a student in the Bard's College for awhile, until his affiliation with Vaermina was discovered. He hasn't been back since. :(

Belrand was suicidal and threw himself on my sword in our second fight. Some say he's good, but that episode has forever branded him as an idiot as far as I am concerned.

Lydia got killed by falmer poison on my first character, and I was stupid enough to reload. Then I couldn't get rid of her and she sat there, stalking my bedroom, making the idea of living in Breezehome with my husband unsettling. So finally I took her out to fight some giants, hoping they would smash her if I stayed out of the way (I was level 44 by then and I hadn't levelled her, so I figured she would be pretty weak). I watched the giants go wild on her with their clubs, then as they came for me, I fought them, and afterwards... Guess who came running up to me. Lydia. ><
Then I grew tired of her, killed her and pretended it was the giants who did it after all.

When my next character got Lydia, she took her with her to clear out Northwwatch Keep. In the general turmoil, she took one hit too many and died. This time I didn't reload...

My first character also managed to displace a very alive Marcurio in a dungeon, the kind with trap doors that makes it impossible to backtrack, and he couldn't go forward either since he wouldn't jump down a shaft. He was completely gone, and since I could hire another follower (the misfortunate Belrand), I thought he was dead. When I returned to Riften somewhat later and saw him sitting there on his bench, eating bread, greeting me with his "look what the horker dragged in", I was so happy I wanted to hug him. (As you might guess, he's one of my favorite NPCs and followers :).)

My followers always die the same way. You see, I am a myopic mage, and honestly, I fry them all. Every last one of them.

Lydia got jumped by 2 ice wraiths on top of a mountain, uthgerd got driven to her knees by an ice spike from one draugr, before another kill-cam'd her with it's greatsword (epic death was epic, kinda made up for the fact I'd hired her 15 minutes earlier), erik decided it would be a good idea to get close to my OP AoE VL spells. Ah well, his death clinched a new perk for me :D

On another character, Sven decided to jump in front of my battleaxe after I rescued him. Marcurio has been fantastic since I hired him, I think I'll actually dismiss him at the first sign of weakness, it would svck to see him die...

I hired Vorstag and quickly headed to Whiterun. On the way, we were jumped by bandits. In the heat of battle, and given the fact that Vorstag was dressed very much like the bandits that were attacking us, I may have accidentally smacked him with the Blade of Woe. /following.

Calder was the other one that I "lost". See, I had to make a sacrifice in order to obtain some ebony armor. Calder drew the short straw. I'd never had him follow me other than that one time. Worked out on more than one front since my wife and I were living in Windhelm. Calder was kind of in the way.

I think the only other follower I've lost and can remember the details was J'zargo. He made one trip with me. Just one. We were headed to a Dwemer ruin straight from the college and had a mild conflict of interest with some creatures outside of the entrance to that ruin. J'zargo didn't survive his one and only battle. I reloaded and headed in again with him. He survived until an encounter with a chaurus and Falmer inside. I finally just gave up on him, looted the items I'd given him and moved on.

I almost killed Erik that way. You know, guys, even women like to have something nice to look at when we play video games. ;) I thought Erik would look cute in a hide armor and greatsword, and also that way he would be equipped to match his light armor/two-handed profile. It worked very well until we hit our first bandit camp one evening, and I realized that in the dark all Nords in low level light armor, wielding two-handed weapons look exactly the same...

You can kill your follower, so what happens is mostly that you hit them by accident. Stray arrows when they are recovering or lingering poison can kill them as well

Sven just died!
he didnt lasted long, maybe less than lydia but only a tiny little bit less..
we were in chillwind cave, west of rorikstead and east of markarth, a labyrinth or a cave filled with falmer and spiders...nasty creatures..the falmer arches kicked sven's ass with arrows leaving him to rest in one knee..my frost spell accidentally hit him while he was trying to recover.
shame.

I was at Valtheim Towers with Faendel and I see a Bandit Chief start going to town on him, I got really scared so I ran up to them, swung my sword, and accidentally killed Faendel but I also killed the Chief. I felt really bad, I had for only 2 Skyrim days but I didn't reload a save. I dragged his body next to a tree, placed some flowers next to him, and placed a torch on his body to not forget where I put him.

I _should_ work that way. When their health is low, they go down on their knees until they're healed, and during that time the enemy AI is set to ignore them. But stray arrows, misdirected magic attacks and so on can still kill them. As can the PC.

Ah Lydia.. I "accidentally" ran her through with a greatsword while exploring. At least she doesn't have to carry my burdens anymore. I don't remember her name.. The dark elf female in light armour. She fell helping me kill morokei, it was a good death. Lydia once again(not her biggest fan) she helped me get my ebony mail on another character.
