"Your Game Version is Not Supported"

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 7:26 pm

So I tried to fire up Skyrim today, and ran into this interesting message upon hitting play on the launcher:

"Your game version is NOT supported, supported patches: 1.1.21.0(31oct11), 1.1.21.0ceg(18nov11), 1.1.21.0ru(10nov11), 1.2.12.0(30nov1), 1.3.7.0(06dec11)"

Notice anything missing there? Steam patched my game the other day, and I played it fine-but now, it seems to believe that the newest patch does not exist. I've tried verifying the game cache, and putting steam in offline mode-neither works. I have also tried disabling my mods, just in case that somehow caused an issue (though they have not changed from when I last played, again, with the patch downloaded and the game working fine).

The ONLY thing that I can think might be causing an issue is that I am currently located in Germany, so maybe the patch list here is different. However I was IN Germany when I installed Skyrim and got patched, so I wouldn't think it would be an issue.

Anybody got any ideas or help? And please don't suggest completely reinstalling Skyrim: I'm not sure if my aunt here pays for her data usage by MB or not, and frankly she may ALREADY be paying out the kazoo for downloading the frakton of a huge game that Skyrim is. I'd really like to avoid doing that again. Plus, it takes most of a day because of the slow speed.

Are you using SKSE? If so, thats the problem.

That's the error message from SKSE. If you're using the skse_loader you need to update. Not sure if they have an update for your particular locale, but worth to check it out.

Or you can just start it without SKSE.

What is SKSE? :/

EDIT: Looks like some kind of mod/patch for Skyrim. No, I am not using that. As of right now, the only mods I have are:
Skyrim Mod Manager
Glowing Ore Veins
Modifiable Hand Sneak Bonus
I Put a Spell On You - More Enchanting Options
QD Inventory

Go into your main Skyrim folder with TESV.exe, etc.

Delete these files if found:
skse_steam_loader.dll
skse_loader.exe
skse_1_1.dll
skse_1_2.dll
skse_1_3.dll

It's a Script Dragon problem, wait to next version or delete "dinput8.dll" file.

Thank you VERY much! That seems to have worked! :) Just to make sure: I kept a copy of that file, just in case, but can anything get messed up by deleting it?

Your ScriptDragon plugins will stop working...but none of the mods you mentioned use ScriptDragon. And if you didn't even know it was there, I guess you won't miss it.

Ahhh, I forgot I had one other mod installed. *facepalm* And whodathunk...it uses script dragon. Was making use of a nice auto-unarmed scaling mod, guess I'll just have to make do without for now.
(mod is http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3517, for those who are wondering)
