do your instincts kick in while playing Skyrim?

Post » Sat Nov 03, 2012 8:24 pm

What I mean is basically when I playing skyrim and I'm running through a wooded area or down a road, I'll suddenly feel this forboding feeling, and I'll stop and crouch down and inspect the area, and everytime there is an enemy ahead.
does anyone else expearince this?

No, but I have an instinct for lockpicking. It doesn't work always, but too often to be a coincidence.

(Edit: In Oblivion, it's almost the other way around. I hate the locks in Oblivion.)

Sometimes. I get reflexes to block and then a arrow hits the shield. It's like i can hear the thud from the bow from far away really low. :)

Instincts or not, I could be running through a wooded area or down a road and stop at virtually any given location to inspect the area and find an enemy ahead. Enemies abound and the spawn points don't move.

Pretty much this. It's not your instincts from real life kicking in, its your subconscious mind that has a rough idea of how the game is built kicking in telling you that, more than likely, based on your hundreds of hours poured into the game, enemies will be ahead (when aren't enemies ahead most of the time?).

My instincts kick in when my character is approaching a known spawn point.

Only when I'm playing in 1st person view. I can almost...sense...other people around, even if it's a dungeon I've never been to.

You can assume at any point there is an enemy and either way you will eventually come across one

My instincts kicked in, and my sword was out and Fus Ro Dah was shouted without any conscious thought, the first time the Honeyside mannequin was in the wrong place.

I think every one has spidy sense, it's just a matter of whether you work that muscle or not, (Pay attention when it happens and not brush it off) but again that is just what I think, everyone has their own think.

What about those of us that literally start shaking when something scary happens. I get the shakes so bad I can barely get my hands to work the keyboard controls. I even put off doing some quests out of real fear. Crazy isn't it?

Yeah, you learn how the game works. You know where and what kind of enemies to expect in certain locations, and where to expect random encounters.

Only thing to ever get anywhere close to that was Silent Hill 3. The sound work on that game was excellent in creating fear. Also in Half-Life 2 Episode 2
Spoiler
when you run away the giant ant lion, hearing it come closer with no place to hide does not feel nice :ahhh:
