Your playstyle? (Dodge vs Block vs Endure)

Post » Sun Jul 22, 2012 11:48 am

I made this poll cause I just realized that my most favorited playstyle is to dodge incoming enemies's attacks and quickly counter-attack them.
So, what's your most favorite playstyle?
Are you just like me, prefer rely on speed and agility to dodge enemies's attack and quick counter-attack?
Or are you prefer blocks your enemies's attack with your shield or weapon then bash them?
Or are you even prefer to endure your enemies's attacks and rely on your armour then strike them back?
Mind to share?

Same here, my current character is a Ranger who mostly dodges and maneuvers when he's in a melee situation. After his bow, he's nasty with a war-axe.

I prefer to dodge and attack on most of my characters, comes natural to me, I guess. Though I've tried playing a blocking character and really liked it.

Sometimes I like to get close to a Draugr Deathlord while invisible. Then I paralyze him with a spell. Then I spray him with a touch of wall of storms to start cooking him.

Sometimes I cast Pacify on everyone, and kill them one by one. Good thing about Pacify is that your magicka gets back to full instantly because you are not in battle.

1H + Block + Light Armor (aka, the Redguard or Legionairre) is probably my favorite style of combat in the game. Without the early armor boost of Heavy Armor, you need to either get good with Blocking, or get your butt kicked a lot, and while one-handed can be cheesed into one-shot levels later on, for much of the game you won't find yourself auto-killing everything you come across, so the battles actually feel a touch more realistic and skill required.

Most of the time I am dodging, conjuring things to fight with me, throwing fireballs, and then coming in to slash them to death. But some times, I just really want the guy in front of me dead so I just charge and slash him to death.

Block for sure. I like getting up close and personal. However if I'm fighting at range, I'll definitely switch to dodging.

I'm kind of halfway between Dodge and Endure, depending on which character I'm playing and which enemy I'm fighting. But I am starting to discover the appeal of Block, with my Shield of Solitude.

Mine is both Block, Bash and Dodge, since I can't block Arrows with a Two-handed sword.
if the enemies attack is still too high for blocking with a Sword, then I have to resolve with dodging.

Edit : I can't resolve to Endure at all since I don't wear Armor or use Defensive spells :|

As my charactor type is typically an archer/battlemage i stay out of their line of sight if possible, but when i have to use melee combat, i just endure.

Sword & Board, block/bash. I've never been good at dodging in these games (I could rarely avoid a hit in Oblivion, and I still can't in Skyrim). And Block includes a bit of Endure, since you still take damage past the shield.

Block, but quick reflexes lets you dodge attacks better.
