Well when I first heard that Prey 2 was coming I liked it but when I learned that Tommy won't be the playable character I was somewhat dissapointed.
At least I hope the game will stay stick with native American mythology, and that it will also feature those weird WTF moments like those anus-shaped holes that puked burning acid,or walking on ceiling. :)
And of course I hope Tommy will appear in the game ut least as a cameo.
Open world-free roaming might be good for the game.
Well lets wait until we learn some more info about the game to make a judgement.

I think it will be better then the first, but I can't help but think that people will think Human Head copied the Portal Gun from Portal.

Well, the first rumors say it will be "open-world", kinda. According to http://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/47376651176259584 Human Head has carte blanche, so I trust them and I'm sure we will have a great game with a great atmosphere, the live-action teaser shown it in a way.

Now 2012 is too far away.

I have to say, the news that Prey 2 was not only on its way, but also being published by Bethesda seemed like music emanating from the heavens. After everything I've heard of the title, though, I'm a ltitle bit worried. Tommy was a very interesting main character and one of the reasons Prey was so unique. Replacing him with "Random Army Dude #14" just seems like a horrendously bad design choice. I have a hard time fathoming this is what Human Head wanted to make after the original Prey, especially when you take Prey's ending into consideration.

That said, I'm still interested. If they can keep some of the amazing mechanics from the first game, and expand upon them, they'll be getting my money day 1.

Open-world shooter with parkour and rpg-elements. Bethesda is the publisher. This game has the potential to be extremely good.
The only thing I can ask for is that they don't stray too far away from the elements that made Prey 1 so great.

It's a letdown that this game is very different from the first one. Why didn't they start a new game with a new IP instead?

i have to agree with this!

Tommy was integral to the original! Without him it shouldn't be prey, that'd be like playing Duke Nuke'em and not being the Duke! But if they had of made a different name for it, kept similar physics it could've been smarter...

The reason its so different is because the original was made 2K and this is being made by human head, they both have different styles so its bound to change a lot. Also bear in mind its been started and restarted several times meaning a lot of work has been put into deciding how this game should be made.

...
2K was the publisher for Prey 1. Human Head developed it.

I thought 2K developed it as well sorry, anyway publishers also have a lot of power over how games are developed so 2K and Zenimax's differences will have some affect on development. My point about the project having been restarted so a lot of thought has been put into what will make this game successful. I don't think the first did very well commercially so they need to change for money issues. Its a shame but its true.

Why even call this Prey 2? Did Bethesda just lock Humanhead in a room with copies of Blade Runner, Deus Ex Invisible War and Mass Effect? You removed the portal gameplay, removed the puzzles and gravity manipulation and are using a graphics engine that has not aged well at all. They stripped the game of everything that made it original and innovative and created yet another generic shooter. Weak sauce.

Then again, we are in a severe gaming drought of grizzled space marine.. err space air marshall protagonists.

At first, I was pissed they were completely dumping everything that made the first game unique. That said, I'm cautiously optimistic. A worthy successor or not, Prey 2 sounds pretty interesting on its own.

I'm kinda looking forward to it. Correct me if i'm wrong but from what i've heard so far, it reminds me of Bioshock.

I'll certainly buy it if its similar to Bioshock and has familiar Prey elements in it.

I've never played the original Prey, but so far Prey 2 keeps sounding better and better the more I hear.

I never paid any mind to the first prey and I wasn't planing to pay any mind to prey 2, but I saw a preview the mentioned mirrors edge an open world. Now I am hooked. Mostly for game play reasons. It dosen't bug me that they are including a new guy because I never cared about the old guy. The new guy looks boring as slate though. I guess I am not into it for the story. The setting sounds nice. It sounds like a mixed aliens setting. The kind of setting where you could say space cops and not be joking. You don't see them to often in video games.

I started research on the game though there is not much information it does sound interesting to try out when it is released. I have played prey ( 1 ) And I really enjoyed it, but this was a long time ago maybe I should give it a shot again.

Well. Prey was one of my first 360 games and totally loved it, the setting is awesome and Tommy is a great character. Now, i was always fascinated to see how it continued the story, but this one...i dont know, it doesnt have the same feel. I hope they put a demo.

Prey should have an continue i was so excited when it said in the end of the game, that is continues. Nobody plays the first one online but it should be like a comeback! And people who played it before could be like:"Hey? Wasn't that the cool alien shooter?" I wish that the story continues.
