Your toons?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 1:56 am

I'm playing a female nord, Elissa.
She's an assasin/Theif general badass ;)
She dabbles in illusion, loves slitting people's throats, or making friends kill each other while she watches from the shadows..

She Was set up by her client in the imperial city, and sentenced to three years imprisonment.

She escaped, fleeing north. On the way, she stopped by her clients house in the dead of night, and decorated his house in blood

She then travelled north to Skyrim, upon hearing rumours of the dark brotherhood, whom she wished to join, to put her 'skills' to use...

Your toons? :D

Toons, I hate that word! Avatar too :glare:
Anyway my current character is an Imperial Crusader, Valeria Corva, a goody 2 shoes who believes in mum, apple pie and the American Imperial way.

When did people start calling them "toons" anyway?

My character is j'Gato, a khajiit mage, and descendent of my CoC. He walked into Skyrim because he heard that he could. Now the arch-mage of the College of Winterhold and thane of every hold. After meeting Sheogorath, and being told the truth of reality, he's gone a slight bit insane. He's been seen doing the most bizarre things, such as jumping off high cliffs, positioning and throwing corpses, and http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/506889846246723715/0078E1185D2D413308629A3EF6E0C2E788028F85/.

I see your point re "avatar", and whilst on a philosophical level you could argue that the "characters" that we channel ourselves through during gameplay are extensions of our psyche, subjectively I find I have to disagree with that term as a descriptor as well.
But then as we established in another thread, I *am* a bit weird like that. :D

Far as I know it started with WoW, gonna state this now; I never have and plan on never playing WoW.
It was attributed to the graphical look of the characters.

Well I just retired my character two days ago.
Hes an Orc Paladin named Uragk Bol.
He focuses on defense utilizing heavy armor, enchantments, shields, restoration and strategic use of storm wall/cloak to make being around him a total pain and can dish out damage at range with destruction or rock people with his enchanted mace. He makes all his own gear and travels with Borgakh the Steel Heart as a follower.

He got his start as a sword for hire picking up small jobs in taverns taking out bandits and collecting bounties in and around the city of Markarth. Eventually he moved on from small jobs to aiding the Jarl of Markarth directly and eventually became its Thane and its most famous permanent resident.

After he felt he was experienced enough he set out to make a name for himself for all of skyrim not just Markarth so he joined the Companions where he quickly rose to the rank of Harbinger.

Having taking on so much power responsibility he felt that he personally needed to do something to put an end to the dragon plague in Skyrim. After killing a dragon that was plaguing the town of Whiterun he felt a strange sensation come over him and heard the call of the Greybeards. Wanting to get to the bottom of this dragon business he climbed High Horathgar in search of answers. Upon reaching the summit and meeting the Greybeards he found out he was none other than the Dovahkin returned to end the dragon menace once and for all and kill Alduin. While doing a trial to go learn more about the way of the voice he encountered a member of the Blades.

He agreed with their mission to stamp out all dragons in skyrim and became a full member. Unfortunately he had to deal with an ancient dragon that was seeking to replace alduin by using me as a pawn and was forced to go get an elder scroll to learn a powerful shout that would ground a dragon. Along the way he had to join the College of Winterhold to get the location of the scroll. He found it and learned the shout and then killed the scheming dragon Parthunaax in the name of the blades and recruited new members he went on a number of missions to kill dragons with the aid of the blades.

Eventually he and the blades formulated a plan to trap a dragon so the location of alduin could be found. Unfortunately he had to go back to the Greybeards to negotiate a truce with two sides of the civil war. Quickly realizing that Ulfric Stormcloack was completely self serving during the negotiation by stealing away his hometown of Markarth he found that Imperial Legion were the true protectors of Skyrim he signed on with the Imperial Legion and promised that when this alduin business was over he would fight for their side and help take Markarth back from the the stormcloaks.

Now that the truce was settled he used dragons reach to trap a dragon and forced it to take him to Alduin. Little did he know that he would be entering Sovenguard itself where he joined in battle with heroes of old to put a stop to alduin once and for all. He was pleased to see that the old Harbinger Kodlak made it to Soverngaurd safely after the defeat of Alduin.

Feeling like he did right by the Companions and all of skyrim but defeating Alduin he decided to settle one last score by retaking his home of Markarth. During the campaign he felt like his skills as a mage in restoration and destruction had reached their apex but decided he needed to see if there was any way to make them more powerful so he stopped off at the college of winterhold. While researching master level spells in both schools he decided to give back to the college that had helped him become a master mage and had previously aided him in finding the elder scroll by helping them investigate Sarthaal. Unfortunately it became quickly apparent that something monumental was happening has he was contacted by the Psijic Order after finding a strange object in the ruins. This set him down a path to stop a great evil from being unleashed and would eventually become Archmage of the College on his quest to stop it.

After that was settled he decided to put an end to the civil war once and for all and after many battles not only did he retake his home but eventually helped defeat the stormcloak rebellion and brought Ulfric Stormcloak himself to justice.

Feeling like there was nothing else heroic for him to accomplish having defeated Alduin, Ulfric and was now Harbinger and Archmage he decided to retire to his home in Markarth once and for all.

Well, character and avatar seem like the correct terms, I mean your niamh and my hunter are avatars of our will and with the stories we build around them makes them characters. So really, for me at least, avatar and character are one and the same thing.

I have always wondered this as well as I am not too fond of that word either, but anyways.....

I am currently playing a sneaky Illusion mage who uses Illusion to pit his enemies against each other. Then, when the last victim comes to and sees the horrors he has committed, my mage begins to resurrect the bodies of the victims friends to drag him to hell with them!!!!!!! All while hiding, invisible in the corner . As you can tell he is a very nice guy haha.

My new main is Fenrir the Wolf. He's a Nord Werewolf that believes he will (should) ascend to become a god like Talos. He has saved and liberated Skyrim, and now expresses his power to the people of Skyrim by preforming various good deeds and exterminating threats of the people. He however is a slave to the hunger that boils within him to maul any living creature in sight and transform into the beast inside of him. That being said he has no intentions of removing the curse because of the immense power it brings to him.

1) I can't stand having my character/avatar called a "toon". Nocturne looks nothing like Elmer Fudd.

2) I also call my characters my avatar because it's the closest thing we have to a living extension of my Will. It's very much like the deific Avatars from D&D.

3) Nocturne's entire history and the reason he came to Skyrim is in my profile. Feel free to read it any time you'd like (though I admit that I need to spend some quality time updating it).

Avatar is no good because we already use it in forums like this one (and it reminds me of that horrible, horrible movie). I vote we just go back to the old days and say "my guy" or "my dude" as in, "My dude is on his last life!" or "My guy just found the Flame Whip sweeeeeeeet!"

30+ Avatars/Toons/Characters...not going to write out all of their backstories

Oh and Avatar means virtual representation of yourself, Toon is used in ALL MMOs, and Character refers to a person within a story. Which fits your person in Skyrim?

1 Avatar, 18 Characters, and the rest are Toons (As in the dont really have a story, they are just a build)

My character now is

Zserfermidia Le Suviet ( Black Acid Wings Of Breaking, The, Breaker)
A female bosmer/wood elf archer, mage and swordswoman.
Uses a bow, weapon and magic or duelwields magic.
Wears light armour and clothes.

I am ignoring the stupid execution intro for her.

Left Valenwood to find fortune and power.
Found a cold land nothing like her tropical home.
Going to casually wander about having adventures and exploring.
Chaotic Good, Neutrel.
Kills people who annoy her. Many will die.Muhaha.

Doing the level 50 trophy, so she will learn every skill to 100 but heavy armour, 2 handed and block.
Going to space out the big stuff so I always have something to do.

I have 2 characters at the moment, a Breton and a Nord Crusader.

Breton
Tynon
Homecity: Daggerfall
Reason for crossing the border: Courtly intrigue involving his fiance, father, brother-in-law and father-in-law.

Nord
Thorom
Homecity: Bruma
Reason for crossing the border: Uncle is dead so he is the last of his family and he chose to go home to Skyrim.

Well, now. If you want to get technical about it, an Avatar is one of the manifestations of Vishnu who is himself the personification of Brahman ;-)
Doesn't really fit with TES now, does it?
