Your Unconventional Playstyle

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:31 pm

So, what's your "unconventional" playstyle that you like? Mine is a Khajiit who uses hand to hand in one(or both) hands, with magic or a shield in the other.

A pacifist manipulator that uses illusion and alteration to have others fight for them. Quite a lot of fun and was sad to find (yet was also useful) that a lot of others have done a similar play style.

Tried using fury a few times, didn't work for me, the enemy completely ignored their friends and kept attacking me, quite annoying.

An Argonain berserker (heavy armor / two handed) who has a strong dislike for thieves and thievery (no stealing things unless required for a quest, and no thieves guild or other thief-oriented quests).
Would probably be a fairly normal playstyle for a Nord. Not so much for an Argonian, though it still works fine. Lockpicking is great for dungeon crawls, and Histskin works quite well with an all-out offense.

Nord Female Dual Sword BattleMage. She’s a heroin of all people --save for the Forsworn, the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood. As for sides she is totally neutral. She would, however, assassinate the Jarl of Falkreath if she could. She despises his tea party like attitude.

A confused Bosmer who was raised by a cult of Daedra worshippes who took oaths to never raise a weapon against another living inteligent being, sow as much chaos as possible, and destroy as many undead and artificial living things as they can. He also happens to be a praticing necromancer who dreams of becoming a master smith/enchanter but I will only use things made from material I can harvest from the world. It is quite challenging as he is very weak in certain situations.

I don't know how unconventional it is, but I'm currently playing a Nord barbarian type who is deeply suspicious of anything to do with magic - to the extent that he refuses to even pick up magical gear to sell.

He also only uses armor and weapons he has crafted himself (with the exception of a set of fur armor he picked off a bandit early on). He specializes in 2-handed weapons, with archery as a strong back up skill, and there have been times I've had to pass up Orcish war hammers or enchanted bows which would be really nice - but nope, still sticking with his trusty superior steel greatsword!

The only exceptions to the above would be in the case of special artifacts that seem appropriate to the character. For example, he is wearing an Amulet of Kynareth right now, which boosts stamina & seems like a good fit as it's from "the gods" rather than something created by a crazy wizard - but that's the only thing that could be considered magical.

Potions are ok, as these are created through mundane means - but he doesn't make 'em himself.

As you might imagine, he hates magic-users and has a special distaste for witches (Nord frost resistance comes in very handy!) and necromancers.

It took me a few characters before I could get this focused with my roleplay - my first couple characters were basically running through the questlines and seeing what sorts of things you could do in Skyrim. This guy is avoiding major questlines (because they have a tendency to make me rush to "finish"), and doing smaller jobs like bandit bounties, chopping wood for a few septims, mining whenever he can, and getting steadily better at smithing.

I'm still only around level 7 or so, so we'll see if I start to fall behind at higher levels - but so far this is a blast, and I feel like I'm really exploring the game and playing on my own terms, rather than with my first 2 characters who played the quests (Thieves' & College of Winterhold, respectively).

As I said, the character type is certainly not unconventional, but the restrictions I'm placing on myself are a bit different from what I usually do.

Not too unusual but its my first character. Orc beserker, uses only 2h weapons and heavy armor. I never use any magic and have never made a single potion with alchemy. I'm not putting points in any perk tree until I've filled out heavy armor, 2h, smithing, and enchanting. It's kind of weird to play, enemies are either VERY easy or VERY hard. Mages rip me apart if I dont get close fast. Being so slow, having a terrible block and no healing or aiding magic makes fights against enemies like giants pretty tough but the average dungeon enemy goes down with a single regular attack.

Khajiit in a wedding dress, attacking with unarmed only. Perfectly feasible if you don't let yourself level, in fact pretty OP with the pugilist gloves. ^.^

Sneaky beserker.

Light-armored with a focus on sneak, pickpocket, and two-handed. I take everyone's weapons and then make my presence known, much to their despair.

A sneaky two-handed warrior, light armor, no magic, some alchemy to keep alive in tough times, gives to the poor, hates the corrupt. Sneak up behind the targets and then BAMM, two-handed power attack with a dirty great big hammer.

Khajiit.

No magic, no potions except Cure Disease, no armor, no weapons, and won't kill any human. Ever.

She will kill any skeever or spider she sees and will try to evade every other animal. She did have to kill a few wolves that had her cornered... and she was sick to her stomach after that.

Pure stealth.

That's not very pacifist. They are still harmed by your actions.

I am doing the DB and Daedric quests without archery or sneak.

I mine ores ... when I have thousands of ingots of each kind already and 1.5 million gold on my person. If you are wondering why I bothered, I'm wondering the same.

A Stormcloak Imperial who's preferred tools of destruction change with the tides. His income primarily consists of smithing and selling jewelry, as well as doing odd jobs for the Thieves Guild. Right now he lives in Breezehome with his girlfriend, Lydia. When work isn't an issue, they enjoy exploring Skyrim and hunting down the Dragon Priests and finding Word Walls.

P.S. Bethesda, please patch the Lydia marrying bug! Her birthday is coming up soon and I want the wedding ring to be her present too!

P.S.S. Now you guys see why I don't roleplay, it's just creepy while I'm doing it. But that is my actual character.

I'm roleplaying a wandering witcher, I use only the midas spells that match his character, and despite his affection for the stormcloak ways, he fights for the empire, because he cannot fight under a Kingslayer. Otherwise he uses Silver or quicksilver weapons (Possibly daedric as well, but he's unsure about them. He isn't a fan of using the weapons of creatures he slays) against beasts, and Skyforge Steel against men, or JaySuS swords.

Thanks to L0rdofWar he even has the gear.

Hey, me too. However, I use a helmet for RP-reasons. It's funnny and bloody on master. Often it's your own blood. Also no magic used by this char (except restoration). I don't level Alchemy and usually use some (picked up) potions only after several deaths against the same foe(s).

I play as a burly warrior with heavy armour and 2-handed weapon skill (mainly the Sword).

I always fight with the sword. Never use magic staffs, but will use scrolls and enchanted weapons. I throw away spent encahnted weapons and sell anything else. I don`t mind giving stuff to a Follower.

In dungeons I always sneak, even though my sneak is very weak. I never take the most obvious route. If there`s an open area, but a ledge to the side, I`ll take the ledge. If a lovely chest of loot is sat in the middle of a room with no one near, i`ll cheack the entire room out first before even going near the chest. then i`ll check the chest. I never stand in front of a chest when opening them.

I do carry a bow for those hard to reach enemies, but have barely any skill in it. Still doing well with it with patience.

Thinking about it I move more like a thief in a dungeon and only become the raging tank when the enemy has obviously seen me.

I'm playing a wood elf assassin/ranger/mage hybrid. He sneaks well, picks the most valuable target in the room first, slices his throat with a dagger (altough one handed skill is like 20, its mostly enough with the modifiers and poison), reanimates the target to fight for him. Then casts ethereal to get out of range, draws his bow and supports the zombie.

Did I mention he also wears heavy armor with a dragon priest mask? :P

Just created a new High Elf mage. I intend to focus on Alteration, Illusion and Conjuration, leaving destruction aside completely and trying out one-handed and robes, no shield, for those moments where it gets down and dirty up-close. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Will be relying a lot on my companion and dog (when I get it) as well as summoned/raised creatures.

I guess I'm unusual in the fact that I'm an Orc who isn't a burly warrior. In fact I blend every aspect, but retain a very honourable outlook. I use A Bow and an Axe, Smithing, Alteration, Restoration, Light Armour, and Speech.

It's very easy to be tempted to add another magic school, which leads me into being a mage, or try dual wielding with a sword and falling into a berserker. It's a logical setup, but also seems very unique to me, I've never seen anyone with the same defined skills, let alone an Orc that does the same. I'm fairly strict with what I can do and what I can't. I won't steal for anyone, and I slaughter Dark Brotherhood on sight.

Apart from using a scroll of Fire Storm once, and the occasional brawl, my character has had a healing spell of some form or other in her left hand for the entire game, 200+ hours. That leaves one hand for destruction, swords, daggers, Candlelight, Detect Life, armour Flesh spells, wards, transmutation and dual-cast healing.
