Is your Warrior a little bit Sneaky

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 4:21 pm

I have a straightfoward warrior - a big nord with a two handed sword and steel armour

but I keep finding in MQ and the Storm cloak rebellion quests that mean my charecter is expected to do some sneaking

should I ignore it and just steam in a'hacking and a'slashing or should I get my sneak levels up a little before I go further - what do you think ?

I usually just go in guns blazing, or swords swinging rather.

Nothing wrong with sneaking. Even Conan would sneak from time to time.

However, sometimes you can have the most fun by breaking the rules. I say save your game and give it a shot.

It's called a warrior thief. Like Conan from the books, and even the movies. You are a straight up warrior, but being a warrior doesn't mean you are stupid. Even barbarians understand the need for sneaking and using archery to weaken their opponents before going balls to the wall on them.

Chuck Norris sneaks.
You only cannot see him.
That's how good he is.

I was running a "Battlemage" type character. One handed weapon (axe, mace, sword) and magic in the other. I was leveling sneak and archery also. So, I was basically making your all round jack of all trades type hero.

Nothing wrong with sneaking. Everyone tries to sneak no matter what role they are at some point.

Mine is. Two handed at 100 and heavy armor at 99. His sneak is at 71 and I use a Muffle spell too. Love the versatility.

All of my characters sneak in caves, dungeons, for two reasons.

1. It makes sense to be careful in dangerous areas. As someone says, just because a character is a warrior doesn't mean they're stupid.

2. You can either "run" through the cave missing everything, or go through at a decent speed, and walking is WAY too slow, so sneaking fast is the best speed at which to do this.

Only the dishonourable sneak around an enemy to make a surprise attack! A warrior's spirit is all you need to pull through in a fight, sneak attacks only serve to show you are weak!
*ahem* Sorry about that.

I do some sneaking with my warrior, just because I don't want to charge into a room and get surrounded by enemies. Even though he's built like a tank, I prefer to not be fighting 3+ enemies at the same time.

Sneak attacks with archery is fun, even without archery perks. Usually, if I see an enemy in the distance, I'll start off with archery and finish off with sword+shield.

My dark knight/conjurer is too much of a supervillain to sneak...you got to have presentation! When she walks in, things go loud and bodies start flying...

Mine does. The way she figures it, sneaking just gives an extra tactical advantage. But then, she also thinks lockpicking is an essential skill for a dungeon-crawler.

For sure lockpicking is a skill. I never put any perks into it.

My Dark Elf, Paladin of Nocturnal, is able to become invisible and is hard to see the rest of the time. He can however two shot a Death Lord and totes Spellbreaker so he can just tank the whole place, one shot it with his bow or sneak in and back stab the room.

Variety is nice.

I wear Heavy Armor and dual wield, but I do plenty of sneaking. I like to fire arrows and get the drop on my enemies. Sneak is my third or fourth highest skill. One Handed, then Heavy Armor, then Sneak and Archery. I've been able to sneak past a lot of enemies, including vampires. I can even approach some face to face and remain undetected.

I've tried. I prefer what is pretty much a standard Barbarian.

There's old warriors, and there's bold warriors...but there are very few old bold warriors.

I'm running a warrior type, heavy armour with axe and shield or two-handed sword or axe, and I sneak a lot. There's no sin in roleplaying keeping your character alive.

My Nord wears light armor and 2 handed weapons. I usually sneak alot in dungeons and get sneak criticals with the bow, so my sneak is about 45 right now, by far my highest skill level. I tried using heavy armor, but that chit is loud as fawk

I do this too.

As for the quests that require sneaking, you can chose; you have lines for that in the conversations. ;)

I think people are brainwashed by D&D into thinking that warriors and thieves are separate, only thieves can stealth and warriors can't.

while this may be the reason I doubt it.. "rouge" class is commonly known. But as said sneaking at the appropriate times make the difference however in Skyrim I rarely sneak because it is one of those mechanics that makes the game a bit snoozevil because enemies are defenseless already especially at high levels. Now yes there is a part in the Main quest that does want you to sneak but its not forced upon.

Adding to the list of "OMG EPIC WARRIORS" Rambo sneaks :P
