Yourself in Skyrim

Post » Tue Jul 10, 2012 5:12 pm

Skyrim has a nice, nice. *Rubs softly* Nice character creator, and I'm wondering. Have you bothered to make a character who looks like you? And or based off of yourself in someway? Are you a nerd who went and made your own Storyline that relates to your own life?
(I'm Bob and I've been picked on by the Nords all my life. Now I will get my revenge by calling forth a dragon to drestroy Helgen! And striking down all the Nords in the Stormcloaks for calling me an ugly orc!)

I personally made a Breton (That looks very close to me...) And made him a lazy person, who does nothing but sit around all day. I read books, and flirt with girls. But that all change when the Fire Nation Dragons attacked...

So how about you guys?

I did in oblivion, by complete mistake. Didn't realise I'd done it til my mum breezed through the room, looked at the screen as I was admiring my armour in the menu and pointed out the similarity.

Ah dear old mum the closet gamer. Should have tried harder to bring her to the dark side before I flew the nest. Ah well, there's always retirement.... :P

No.
Because even by my standards that would be strange...

I'd do that, but honestly, I don't know what to do with myself in the game. I guess I could try and make a character just for fun. And then play DiD to see how long will she survive.

Gutslit basically is a me personality wise if you take out all the hateful parts. I'm very much a loner and have tons of mental issues, and am quite obsessive. I also will seek out as much information on topics I like as I can, even if it is just silly things like the budgets of animated films from different countries or how various guitar chords sound or even how textures in a game look. Gutslit is unintellionally like me. He is only loosely based off me. I'm not a drug addict, hateful towards everyone(unless everyone decides to make me mad... Then you get words in the knee), or even have the backbone to be firm to someone when I want to be left alone(my way of saying that to my parents is, "I love you.").

I tend to put in elements of people I know, family members, and myself into any character I make. The Silent Hill fanfic I wish I still could finish(thanks old computer for dying and killing that file) had the main character be based almost entirely on my sister. Anyone who knows Silent Hill already knows that the character was tragic and my sister probably is... She is... I can't just make a personality out of nothing. I have to identify with it somehow. Even if it means saying, "Hey, that's like someone I know."

I one time ended up making a... very mentally unstable character in Morrowind. Got me really scared because I have many family members who have severe mental issues.

I am only a Khajiit in TES and the forums. I am not a Khajiit in reality.

I tried to make my first character look like me, and even called him Josvik (my name's Joseph). I put over 200 hours into that character in the first couple of months since 11-11-11, and tried to do everything as I would do myself. I then put him away in the cloud saves and got on with making nine well defined characters that were nothing like me and had their own agendas.

The good thing about him was the sense of discovery and experimenting with the game's quests and skills, but when I took him out of the cloud to pay Dawnguard that sense of discovery had gone and the save was a complete mess. Inappropriate quests for a Nord warrior - tons of bugged quests and items - and perks in all the wrong trees meant I just had to delete him. Still, he was a good guinea pig and I learned a lot about the game that made my other roleplays more enjoyable.

Meh, I'd rather role-play some character from Nirn who have his/her own story. I've tried making myself back in Oblivion, but it never ends well.

I think people tend to project some or all of their personality into their characters whether they realise it or not.

I realised this when watching a friend play crash bandicoot and realised that when he was concentrating hard he would be so absorbed in the game he would point crash at whatever he was looking at even if he had no intention of heading towards it - almost as if he was seeing through crash's eyes. I've also caught myself trash talking back to bandits... Oh for milo tech :P

My nephew is an Argonian fan, himself. He loved how the Argonians in Morrowind look, and loved how they look in Skyrim. I think he'd go, "Poopy!" if I showed him the Argonians in Oblivion, Arena, and Daggerfall. Of course, poop is all he can think about. It is interesting how he imitates me so much that he has to place a beast race. I explained what classes each race would be considered good at, and even though he likes the axe, he still wanted the Argonian. It is kind of funny. I think my Battlemage is why he likes them.

I tried to make a male version of myself with facial in Fallout 3... Ah. I miss my Korean foreign exchange student friend now. She was there, and we made jokes about the hair and facial hair. I even asked, "Does this look like a certain serial killer?" when we got to the wild hair styles. She was my proofreader for the appearance, and the words out of her mouth were mainly, "PS3 graphics!"

I was 15 and was only good at shootin' in that game by 70%.

How much of "based off yourself" would it be? If its skills and all, i would have died when alduin attacked  or not, but i wouldnt be able to swing a sword for long. And i hate studying, so magic doesnt cut out. I could be sneaky though. Maybe. Probably.

If its personality; i tend to do that in my first playthrough, to put myself in my character's shoes in dialogue choices and such; "what would i do if i were in his situation?"

And god no i don;t make a character that looks like me. Its quite impossible, anyway :D
