"2012 Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition" lists

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 10:34 pm

After seeing what most of the list contained, I was wondering what they'd put as number 1.
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops

Also:
27. Metal Gear Solid

11. Super Mario Bros.

Are these the only games on the list that were released before 2003?

What a joke that list is. It's a popularity contest.

Everyone knows that Haven: Call of the King on the PS2 had the best ending in gaming history.

I see GI was also being a bit sarcastic in reporting this.

Fallout 3 is on that list....

:ermm:

But yeah, overrated though the game itself is, I love FF VII's ending.

KOTOR and KOTOR II

Silent Hill 2- There were so many different endings you could get and each one left a huge emotional impact on me. Even the dog one.

If we are talking about final bosses/stages as well, I would put New Vegas on there too. If DLCs count, Lonesome Road deserves a spot.

Shivering Isles, because mantling Sheogorath is just the best thing ever.

Stopped reading as soon as I saw that Sonic was ahead of Bioshock.

Have these people even played any of these games?

Abobo's Big Adventure, naturally. The list would be irrelevant without it even if it weren't terrible.

I thought Guinness was for records that can be objectively determined, guess I was wrong in that assumption. Not only is "the best game ending" subjective, it is also hard to define what the ending is. Is it the end cutscene? the end level? what if the cutscene is interactive?

I find it frustrating that GTA:IV is on that list since one of the quick-time events on the final level can NOT be completed on a keyboard, for me that game doesn't even have an ending.

Browsing their site reveals that they also have a "smallest pokemon" record... That's like a "biggest bigmac" record: only mcdonalds is going to be able to improve that record so why bother adding it?

Well I must confess to being disappointed that Barbie Horse Adventure: Wild Horse Rescue didn't make it on there.

Best game ending I've seen in a long time has been on BioShock 2's Minerva's Den DLC.

What game do you think had the best ending?
None of the above.

Of course Super Mario Galaxy had the best ending. Shortly followed by the musical masterpiece of an ending for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

I don't think the story is what its strong ending was - Still Alive was an amazing, hilarious, completely unexpected finish to one of the funniest games I've ever played.

Oh you're counting the song? I love the song.

It would be cool if for Portal 3 GlaD0S actually went to Black Mesa. That would be amazing.

It's not that bad of a list. A lot of great endings listed there, a handful that really shouldn't, etc.

If they were, the ending to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URcvdDtnM_0 would be their number one. :P

Didn't like those endings much.

Though you've got to admit, Oblivion's ending was a helluva lot better than Skyrim's. >_>

Kind of disappointed about some of the listings there to be honest. Really thought FO3 had a dang good ending and really deserved to be in the top 5 by the very least the top 10. Resident Evil 4 i'm surprised even made the list, but the shocker was probably HL2 Episode 2 not being further down the list.

Ticks me off though that Devil May Cry 3 didn't even make it into the list. Had a great ending imho even though we knew it was already going to happen due to DMC1's story line.

Have you only played 10 games ?

Fallout 3s ending was horrible. Its story was horrible from start to finish. There was no point in the games story, that could be considered good. The entire idea of project purity is [censored].

If you want a game with a good story, pick up planescpe.

Oblivion and San Andreas? REALLY? They were okay games, but their endings left something to be desired.

That said, I'm disappointed that L.A. Noire's ending isn't on that list. :shakehead:

That's a bad list. There are some good games in there but most of them are overshadowed by the majority of crap candidates.
