Thank you, Povuholo, for starting a new thread while I was at work :D

I watched the live cam and re-winded back to the part I missed, which is him taking a tour of Bethesda's booth. Lucky him, Pete gave him a tour so he showed the hands on demos people were playing of TESO and Wolfenstien. The theater (which he didn't go in) was a off hands demo of The Evil Within.

This...this cannot really be true is it? I mean Japan and South Korea are not on the list...mind bogglingly stupid if true. Even if exaggerated it makes the point hit home.

Microsoft isn't concerned with selling Xbox in Japan anymore.

Sadly, yes. PS4 is region-free. Even CD Projekt http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/06/12/cd-projekt-red-reacts-to-lack-of-xbox-one-in-poland.aspx to it, regarding the Xbox One:

...kind of sad when the places that make their games cannot play them on a device that is designed to use them. I mean Poland and Japan? Japan has a [censored] ton of gamers. Microsoft could lose the console war simply to them...well if it wasn't for Nintendo.

Is Microsoft trolling us? I don't understand the stupidity...

Microsoft isn't big in Japan, Sony and Nintendo are kings there.

Yet losing the place with the highest amount of gamers per capita is still a stupid move. They still moved decent sales numbers there. Enough to warrant them to be within their region lock.

Oh well...if they like bullets in their feet more power to them.

They obviously don't think the market is profitable enough in those regions, so they decide to cut their losses and focus solely on the places that buy sufficient Xboxs.

Just another thing that they are approaching stupidly.

Microsoft was never able to break into the Asian audience. So they're probably just saying "Why bother?" It's absurd, though; Japanese Xbox games like FFXV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Metal Gear Solid V won't be playable on the home front now. I can't help but think that this could severely bite Microsoft in the ass. Asian devs get alienated and start releasing fewer games for the Xbox One. Fans of those games turn to Nintendo and Sony to get what they want. Nintendo and Sony thus appeal to more people and sell more machines. Devs from not just Asia, but all over the world take note and start shifting more focus onto them. And thus the cycle begins.

Same goes for a good portion of the European market. At this point, I don't think it's a good idea to start cultivating a poor relationship with the likes of CD Projekt RED.

Though to be fair, I suppose it was a lose-lose situation for Microsoft. I really don't see how they could win as far as the Asian market is concerned.

IMHO Microsoft is making a huge bet on how the future of gaming will be with the Xbox one.

This will either makem or breakem.

risky move :violin:

I don't see this as being a huge deal for them, Japan hasn't ever sold well for Xbox, I don't see why they would keep trying.

Well of course they didn't or w win. But you cannot let important battles go unfought in the console war. They at least needed to maintain a foot in the door there.
They are already made in the shade though...

Japan not being on the list doesn't surprise me. Consider a couple things: the 360 did poorly in that market and if you pay attention to NPD sale numbers, one can easily conclude that that market is a handheld market (the PSP on the monthly basis outsold the PS3). So that's that.

It'd be foolish of them not to include Japan at some point, though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ht-0Hne4EUThe crowd openly shunned Microsoft's policy. Remember that the crowd isn't the general public, but people who's professions revolve around games. Professionals, for lack of a better word.

Certainly. Crowd reaction definitelys ays something considering it is a very varied and somewhat large representation of a primarily gamer population. Even if it is small it still tells its own tale.

For people getting next gen systems, what is going to be your game lineup? With Sony's $400 price tag, I might actually get it soon after launch instead of waiting for a price drop. I imagine I'd throw in one multiplayer game and one singleplayer game. Destiny and The Witcher 3 really impressed me, so that'll probably be where I start. Throw in the console-exclusive F2P's that Sony has lined up (Blacklight: Retribution and Warframe) and the PS+ instant game collection beginning with a "special version" of Driveclub (better? worse?), and that's a pretty damn strong launch. I'll definitely take advantage of the stellar indie lineup as well. I'll have to be careful to avoid purchasing ones slated for PS+ freebies, though.

Xbox users have the luxury of deciding between two quality MP-focused games, Titanfall and Destiny. It'll be interesting to see how the sales work out on X1... will most users get both or just one?

For PS4? Well I need more information but the annouced games I am getting for sure are Dark Souls 2, Call of Duty: Ghosts (maybe not, might get it for current gen, I am not sure, what exact day does the PS4 release?), The Witcher 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Final Fantasy XV.

Games I am thinking about is an entirely different matter. I was hoping to hear more about Deep Down and I am considering getting The Elder Scrolls Online for PS4. Just need to talk to my guild and see whether or not i am going to bother getting a new PC.

The Wii-U has some interestin titles as well. Probably going to get one and try out the Monster Hunter franchise and get every single Zleda game that is on it. Probably a few other games as well.

I heard that M$ is hiring people to praise Xbone on the internet.

A Redditor discovered it and posted http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1fv5yj/i_saw_microsoft_employees_monitoring_this/:
