3rd Person Hotkey MMO confirmed

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:06 am

Its a MMO :( I dont expect combat like any singleplaayer TES Game.

Just because hotkey combat is the norm in MMOs doesn't mean every MMO has to follow and align itself with it. Look at darkfall, it does FPS style combat just fine while still being an mmo. I really don't understand why they're giving into this style of play

Combat system is one of the most important things in the game where you are able to have combats. Two newest of TES games had awesome combat systems and I can't understand why they would throw such well working systems away when creating a new TES one even if it's MMO.

Someone put scans/digital copies up online, that's that.

It's a Guild Wars 2 clone with a visual style that screams "not Elder Scrolls" with a complete and total disregard for existing lore.
yeah i was thinking the same thing. GW2, not WoW

It is using HotKey Combat. but there are Synergistic combos like Oil being set aflame being hit by a Whirlwind turning into a fire tornado shooting fireballs everywhere.

Unfortunately you can't turn their attacks back on them (eg, setting an enemy's oil slick on fire). :/

You guys want to have a negative reaction to this game, so you are looking for things to be upset about. I am the opposite, and will admit that I have a glass half full attitude -> everything I saw in the leaked article sounded great to me. I'm an MMO player at heart, though. The combat sounds like it will be very fluid - it won't be auto attack and spam 1,2,3. It seems lik you are going to have to block, dodge, take advantage of situations (like oi slicks, etc), and even manage your endurance to break stuns, sprint, etc.

The scan I saw is too wide to be a proper page scan.
That article didn't sound (or look) very authentic to me.

Don't know if it was said in this thread already but the scans (if were looking at the same ones) seem to be screenshots from an ipad/tablet app. Just look at the buttons in the top right corner. Seems legit :(

this. What made TES good was it was like a FPS in a Role playing unirverse (morrowind and onwards) and skill lvl up instead of exp. They should have made TES into an MMO not an MMO into TES :(

There are all the races in the game. Each faction is lead by one race. chill.
There are 10 races.

I always played an Imperial - no Imperials mentioned in the article.

Has been said specifically that they are not in the game? No?

Then stop whining and wait for more information.

No, three factions, one of which makes no sense and another one which isn't supposed to exist for another 300 years.

Nine races.

Which race was singled out? It better not have been Argonians.

Edit: Oh the Imperials.. Meh.

Neither were Argonians. but Imperials aren't in, the others are right. just play as another generic human race.

Your right.

We are not allowed to talk about the s-word.

But really, 3rd person + hotkey bard = WoW clone? I'm sorry but you're being ridiculous.

Not a WoW clone, but a typical fantasy MMO which are a dime a dozen.

This should have carried the TES flag of being known for free form classes and real-time combat.

What?! A third person mode? I still hope it to be possible to play in 1st person. And about combat I hope it haven't locked target and auto attack. As I hope it to be is that you can hit whatever you want with a mouse button as usually in TES and the hotkeys I hope to be somekind of varieties of powerhits which are located on keyboard not on the screen.

Hm. Not sure what to think. Judging by the replies to the interview questions, the MMO does sound a little bit backward. If this is to pull me in, it'd need to try and revolutionize a bit, like GW2 is trying to. Also, graphics look rather dull, in my opinion.

That said, it's probably early alpha and not as polished as the final thing will be, but still. Would've been nice with something completely fresh.

It might be that "something completely fresh" wouldn't be an MMO altogether. There are some ramifications involved in making a game MMO.

The leaked article uses "network latency" as an excuse to not have first-person real-time combat. I call [censored]. Planetside 1 & 2 are doing a first-person shooter MMO just fine.

Oh god. What are they doing to the lore?!!
Well, atleast Aldmeri makes more sense than Akaviri. As there hasn't been much interaction with them besides the war.
