1.5GB Hi Res Texture Pack just kicked off.

Post » Thu Feb 07, 2013 7:33 am

CCNA Edit: This is the hi res texture pack for the DLC.

Povuholo Edit: Hi res Dawnguard and Hearthfire textures were included as well, in the second BSA.

I downloaded (and was playing) Dragonborn from Steam yesterday, now I fire it up this morning and Steam kicks off a 1.5GB download. This is 60% larger than the original Dragonborn download (900MB). Any ideas what this might be? High-res textures, perhaps?

Maybe.

It started downloading the 1.5 GB for me as well. I doubt it's a new patch, they're usually not that large.

I've got it. HighResTexturePack03 :twirl: No idea which DLC it's for yet.

EDIT: It seems to have modified the previous texture packs too. I need to investigate, but of course Steam stopped responding in the most important moment...

Probably for all DLC so far. Having additional Dragonborn textures isn't an issue if you don't have Dragonborn. Maybe they fixed the purple logs from the original high-res packs too.

yeah, my game crashed because i minimized the game to search on google.. startet to download and i had to wait 10 mins for it to be done.. but great that we get a texture pack.. wish they could update people on stuff like this instead of just forcing us to install something we don't even know what is :)

I opened it up in BSAOpt. I see a parthuurnax texture in there but I don't see anything that might relate to the log in Riften or the issues with fires.

Edit - scratch that, had a bunch of stuff in my .out folder. This looks like a high-res patch for Dragonborn only.

*Sigh*, still downloading even though it says 1.7 GB / 1.5 GB. You have no competence, Steam.

Why would someone who has not bought Dragonborn get it then? See earlier post: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1441774-15gb-download-just-kicked-off/page__p__22206784#entry22206784

Pack03 has textures mostly for dlc02 (Dragonborn) - a lot of them. Landscape, armor, buildings, clutter, effects... Nice.
A lot of animal and monster textures. There's even one for female Altmer head :tongue: There are a few files tagged as dlc01: blackreachdeer, frostgiant, falmervampireteeth (wtf?), falmervfrozen, vampirebrute and the dragons.

Anyone knows what was added to the other packs? Please, let it be a fix for firelog textures!

EDIT: There are more heads. Male Orc, female Breton, maybe even more.

If you don't have the hi res pack on your account, then it should not download the new packs. I removed my hi res pack (had to send an email to Steam) so hopefully it won't try to download this one. Have to wait until I get home.

Has anyone checked out the fire/log texture in-game? I have one of the HD packs installed which overwrites Bethesda's HD textures and fixes it, so I can't tell here.

Awesome! Can't wait to see the updated textures in game. I assume that the best way to run this, like the previous texture pack, is to get rid of the ESP file and add a reference to the BSA in the Skyrim.ini file under sResourceArchiveList.

I'm on it. Extracting the content right now; it should take some time though.

All packs appear to have been updated, and I think the purple log issue has been fixed.

So does this actually make a 3rd .esp file to check in the Data Files? I need to get those in the right order so they don't over-ride modded textures.

Yeah, you're right. All 3 BSAs have a modified date of 2/6/13.

It does, but like the previous texture packs you may not have to use the ESP. Instead add the BSA to the Skyrim.ini file like this:

[Archive]
sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, HighResTexturePack03.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa
sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Voicesixtra.bsa

Backup the ESP file outside the DATA folder. This will ensure that any mods will be loaded after the texture pack.
