Ability Upgrade

Why not? I can imagine interesting uses.

Freezing water to cross a lake. Freeze a Tall Boy's Legs. Freeze a Tall Boy's Arrow.

Using fire to light candles. Light tapestries on fire to find secret pathways. Using fire as a distraction. Using fire a DX like Torch.

The the generic uses which I think you're implying (fire ball, Ice Blast etc) should still have their place, but they should be costly; kind of like how gadgets are costly for the technological path player.

Up to now I thought windblast was the only elemental magic to the game. It's a cool feeling knowing you can play as an 'Elementalist Assassin'.
Yes, I was thinking fire ball/ice blast. You're right, there could be some creative uses.
I don't see how celerity would differ much from time bend.
I, up until now, have always thought that Celerity would make you move faster, and other people would remain at normal speeds. You would just run faster. I never thought that it would have a similar effect to time bend, and I still don't, although it could.
Except Healing. I really think that might be a mistake.
Same here, unless they balance it well.

But blink and time bend for sure, maybe possession.... depends on what kind of build I will be playing on.

Unless you can slot different things into the wheel, you can only carry six active powers and I doubt you can remove Blink. Then again if you want to do a Blink-free playthrough, it'd be a mistake not to let that be an option.

Blink
Feather
Dark Vision
Celerity
Bend Time
Possession

Non-lethal set. Want to have maximum mobility, awareness and escaping potential.

A lot of those don't add much in terms of gameplay since the abilities themselves are very versatile. And if Shadow Kill is an enhancement. Just asked Harvey.

Do you think he has a vein in his head that comes to the surface whenever you ask him something? And it pulsates even before you know you're going to ask? I bet it does. I think you made a permanent impression, you glorious bastard. Thank you Harvey for delivering us our precious manna through Strife and in turn we may feast upon his return (I'm in a weird, ornate mood right now).

I'm showing that to anyone who asks why I felt the need to have all the preorder packs.

Edit: Your Possess All Things picture. Just want to be clear as not smudged glass.

For me:
Blink
Time Bend
Dark Vision

Those are all I think I will use regularly. I will obviously carry around a few more, in case a situation requiring them comes up.

Harvey is often chatty with me. We once talked about the best pizza house in Chicago. And lots of random things. He even asked me how I was doing last week when I stabbed my leg with a rusty spike. Pretty decent guy but I gotta stop bothering him.

Even though I'm not on the Twitter, I admire that leveling field effect it has where if we're interesting enough we can chat with the people who make us happy through art and all that good stuff. And it could also send you into spiraling depression if your off-the-cuff remark chafed your conversant's sensibilities. Yeah there's a reason I'm not on there besides my round hole, square peg problems with technology. 100 characters is me breathing half the time.

Yeah, I've talked to multiple semi-famous people via Twitter. You're right - while not completely, it makes everyone a lot more "equal". You would never otherwise be able to ask them questions/talk to them.

One tetanus shot and I am all done. Although I have a very deep hole where there should be leg. I will be fine don't worry. I was given this weird device that medics use apparently. It's supposed to shoot sun light and something else into a specific spot. Weird thing is it actually works. So I guess someone found out the secret to the TF2 Medic's Medi-Gun?

lol Strife I just got this image of you as a Jewish mother filing her nails as she gives six months of gossip to somebody in one conversation and poor Harvey is like "ye-yes, you're we-welcome can I..can I talk to the other fans now?"

Yes, quite. Anyway you guys really scared me with that Shadow Kill being a bone charm thing. Game Informer didn't even get Corvo's full name right. Twitter is awesome btw. It's great for news and for quick friendly chats. And now rabidminimoose is following me. Yay, even more people to listen to my bs or actually spread the news I share.

To be perfectly honest I think some runes can actually be considered worthy of being enhancements but like I said it's there call. And even if Shadow Kill was a bone charm I still wouldn't mind it. Still think that bone charms should be one point one each and you get to pick which one out of all of them, but it's not a big deal. Can't wait for the stealth video and the feedback from GamesCon and PAX.

That sounds like a crazy piece of technology. I'd assume that that is after the various stitches and mundane medicine is used. After that, it's Star Trek time with a price-gun erasing wounds. I guess it's for treatment of potential scarring afterwards or is that light actually sealing bone and sinew together. Sorry about these morbid questions but I can't imagine we have something like that out there.

If I were on Twitter Mak, I'd be sending my best wishes to Clive Barker, one of my favorite authors. He's not doing great. Not that you asked me who I'd talk with, but it relates and such. It would be encouraging to talk with him and others too if my words did manage to penetrate the mass of verbiage he has to receive, but it's not likely. It does sound like the best avenue though as long as it isn't a vanity or placeholder account.

Least I could do. He changed my life with his books and gave me a permanent fond memory with my dad through first exposure to his works. Too much to go into here and it'd be selfish to clog the board. But if you like dark fantasy/horror, read Weaveworld.

Lost a post but the only important bits to them were that it was probably a typo re: Corvo's name (they spelled it Atana iirc) and my doubts on whether they'd screw up a developer's favorite part of a certain feature but stranger things have happened.

It actually restores cells and tissue. I am sorry but I can't find the box to it so I can read more about it but since doctors use it and it's supposed to be very expensive equipment and a lot of people say it actually works.

Oh boy, how far technology has gotten. Soon we'll be seeing the evolution of games but Antonov was right (Extra Credits as well). Graphical fidelity is at it's peek and we don't need to waste money on that. Not saying abandon it altogether but focus on the important parts, the gameplay. And seriously no more imprecise motion controls. (subtlety trying to reel this topic back)

Not really I liked him a lot. I also want to ask if I am the only one who has "The Sandman" graphic novel. People say it's the best and I haven't gotten to reading it yet.

Anyway, since we gotta stay on topic from time to time, a thing I really like to see is the first weeks that the game is out is the massive amounts of information that goes on the internet. Can't wait to see all bone charms and crazy YouTube videos. I can already see the "make the craziest kill in Dishonored" or "Weirdest Dishonored playthrough, killing my enemies just by look at them angry" and so on bandwagon. I hope there is one at least so the game can get the attention it deserves (because it is going to be good we all know that right?!).

Am I the only one here who hasn't heard of Clive Barker?

Not at all. He's the thinking man's horror villain. Doug Bradley made an iconic character out of a bit part in a small novella.

Just as I was dumping on Carmack (not really but I felt foolish for defending Rage the little that I did), his work on a virtual reality head-set had me really excited for the future of motion gaming. Kinect and everything else will fall by the wayside if he can make the headset work the way it sounds like it's going. Imagine Dishonored with the aiming and observation done with your head (everything else is still a gamepad or maybe keyboard/mouse---I think it's only the former). That would really begin the quest for further immersion. If the proper tech is being pursued, I'm all for it. The present stuff has been gimmicky though. Totally on board with halting the graphical crusade though. Watch Dogs is still possible on current gen consoles (although it'll look much better on PC). We've reached the point where, unless you're really obsessed with pixel count and all other manner of (to me) arbitrary graphical showboating that everything else should be focused on.

It was more a matter of time and context that prevented the Shadow power from not being used, but I want games to chase after those goals. Crazy mechanics that shake up the paradigm and actions that ripple through with big and small consequences. That's another reason I hope Dishonored sets the gaming world on fire, but there's still the problem of a high disparity between Dishonored (which I think we can agree classifies under a AAA heading) and smaller titles that might want to do some of the same things. Even though I'm not looking into it at first, Ouya sounds promising with its open box concept to welcome developers of all stripes. I'm hoping to see a lot of games that will carry the LGS/Arkane values forward that can break into the market with less risk attached. We're either at a great turning-point for games or the gulf will continue to widen for big titles and everything else.

Not sure if that went far afield too. Had other thoughts rattling around but decided to chew on em some more.

Last time sorry! Yes, read Sandman. Neil Gaiman is the bees knees. Stephen King once said of Clive Barker (who cribbed a Rolling Stone quote about Bruce Springstein), "I have seen the future of horror and it is Clive Barker."

He's also peripherally attached to a new movement called "The New Weird," which has great authors attached like Jeff Vandermeer (who coined the term I believe), China Mieville, Thomas Ligotti and there's others too. There's good genre-mixing stuff out there to consume if'n you have the time.
