I think it's more of a "maybe, it depends, we can't tell by the topic alone."

I guess some assets wouldn't be a problem, like some armor, weaponry, etc., but I think more comprehensive mods would be a bigger issue, like remaking a village, a level or something else that very distinctly Witcheresque.

Borrowing assets is one thing, partially remaking a game is something different altogether.
And I think a mod must be distinctively not too much a (part of) The Witcher 2.

Remember the ambiguity of "legal" in colloquial english.

It is legal in the sense of "allowed by law" to use The Witcher (2) assets in Skyrim mods. Period.
Bethesda has no say in that, CD Project is the copyright owner.

It may or may not be "legal" in the sense of "compliant to the rules" to discuss the use of the Witcher assets here in these forums.
CD-Project has no say in that, Bethesda is the host here.

Interesting. Anxiously awaiting their reply.

Say they do allow assets to be ported, I haven't played Witcher 2 yet, but is there some interesting items/armour/weaponry/etc.? Or would it feel out-of-place in Skyrim?

Well i wasn't a big fan of The Witcher 2. Prefered the first part, it had more play depth. However there are already 50 Mods with the Triss Armor, 140Mods with the Geralt armor, a few with the whole Armor set of the Witcher 2. A lot of weapons from Witcher 2. So ithink we can soon release "TES VI Witcher" I thin some things MIGHT fit in Skyrim (i am not using them) but some are just out of place for my taste.

I think it would be best if we let this topic sit until there is an official response. The use of game assets like this is generally strictly off limits, so until we have confirmation that this use is acceptable by CD Projekt it would be better not to keep the discussion going.

Our policy in the forums has always been that we do not allow assets from our games into other games (and vice versa).

Understandable.
... So what's the scope of allowable subjects we can speak about here? No theorizing here as well I assume?
(or in other words: why no lock on this topic?)

The reason Beth would not officially support taking assets from games like that is because if they sanction it, and CD Projekt takes any legal action and proves that Beth made a profit on Skyrim based on the prospect of mods using CDPR's assets, it would be pretty bad indeed. Is it likely to happen? No. But it is a possibility and I don't blame Beth for staying away from that one bit.

Wow I really appreciate you guys taking the time out to contact CD Projeckt about this. I updated my first post to be a little bit more clear.

I used some of the medieval base tunes that the bards play in the Witcher 1 and remixed them around a bit to make some custom songs for my own games. I would like to make more and potentially release but I wouldn't want know CD Projeckt's position on the matter...I actually made the tunes a few years ago so I just was curious about if I would be able to distribute them in a mod or not.

Edit: Would it be better if I uploaded a portion of the song to give an idea of what I used?
