So about this nintendo 64....

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 1:33 pm

So i recently found in an old box in my garage a stack of my long lost 64 games. Lucky for me i still have my 64 boxed up thinking all my games got lost in a move years back. Well.... Heres what i found.

Ocarina of Time
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Perfect Dark
Goldenye
Majaro's Mask
Pokemon Stadium
Glover
Shadowman
Ridge Racer
Rayman 64
Mario 64
Super Smash Brothers
Wave Race
Hydro Thunder
Episode One: Pod racer
Starfox 64
Hybrid Heaven

Needless to say I'm a little stoked. I was just wondering if there's still love out there for the cartridge, or am i alone on this?

Also has anyone played glover?! That game...

I went back to my n64 not too long ago, and discovered how much my fondness for this machine was simply nostalgia. When played now, the games show as being as one-dimensional as they truly were. The graphics, when viewed on a small 32" lcd tv, are horrible and really do detract from the experience. Games that, in their time and in our memories are multi-layered and exciting, such as the Zelda games, really show their age when played after you've experienced the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 3.

I have a lot of love for my Nintendo and my Mega Drive, my Atari and Amiga. Even my 1st generation Xbox. When stacked against other games, though, they show themselves for what they really are - awful. No doubt I'll be saying the same about Crysis and Battlefield 3 in a few years time.

It's my favorite console, outside of the 360.

Kept one of my old standard defs, just to play the thing every once in a while. So many good games.

Rayman
Zelda
Conker
Wave Race
Harvest Moon 64
Banjo Kazooie
Road Rash

Good times. Was never the biggest fan of Mario 64, strangely enough.

I'm sure like bonalste says a lot of games do benefit from nostalgia, but I'd love to play Ocarina of Time again. That and Abe's Oddysee were two of my favourite childhood games.

Cartridge games are epic!
I still play my N64 from time to time when the Xbox dies or I am just really bored.
I have: Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Snap, WWE Wrestling, Banjo-Kazooie, Chef's Love Shack, Some Snow Boarding Game and a few other that I can't remember - Still EPIC

I have never liked Mario games, I dunno why but I just never found the appeal in it.

Remembered I have GoldenEye, could never complete it back when.

Just nostalgia?

Old games are played becuase they are good games. The graphics, audio, or style does not make a game any better than another. Games like Ocarina of Time will always be good. So will Final Fantasy and Ninja Gaiden. Such games will be played much longer than anything being produced today. You claim to have love for older games but it sure doesnt sound like you truly do. Claiming Fallout 3 as a better game than the likes of Goldeneye or Super Smash Brothers is just wrong. Its so wrong you should be forced to play CyberMorph for the Atari Jaguar till the end of your days.

I still have my 64. Along with Mario 64 and Perfect Dark.

Maybe it's because I never owned one, but I don't like any of the games on the N64. So it's not just nostalgia, but I'd say it's a factor.

I never had a N64 as a kid, but I had many friends who did... Don't know why I never asked for one, I only had a Playstation.

But a few years back I bought one online with Ocarina Of Time...

Why? Why was I such a fool as a child? All the wasted years.

A family member of mine had it and lost it, so no N64 for me; would have wanted to replay Star Fox 64 though. I still have my PS1, which I annually play Armored Core 1 because its still awesome to customize a giant humanoid tank and fight in mission.

I remember a bug with one stage where you could make it so all prox mines hovered in the air. I loved doing that.

The N64 has had the best line up of games of any console upto it and since. Between Nintendo and Rare they made some of the very best games ever created for the N64

My favourite console ever

Eh, the only games I'd really play on it these days is OoT or Quake most other games for it aren't good enough to be worth playing these days. I got Perfect Dark off XBLA and it was so terrible by todays standards even nostalgia couldn't' save it.

Man, all you need is Donkey Kong 64 and Mario Tennis/Kart and you'd have all my favorite N64 games in that box.

so continuing my rebirthing of an lost era of my childhood, I spent around 120 bucks online to fill out my new N64 section of my 'media shelving area 5000'.

so i should be expecting in the next week or so Quest 64, DK 64, Mario kart, Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire, Rouge Squadron, Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Banjo kajooie and Tooie, Resident Evil.

Also for anyone thinking it's a nastolgia only thing; about three months ago i conviced my fiance to download for her wii Oot and majaro's mask. She has only played zelda from windwaker on so...

Three months later she's beaten OoT 100%, considers it one of the best games shes played (next to Beyond Good and Evil and the Bethesda titles(god i love that girl)), and is half way through Majaro's. So yeah... 64 titles hold up pretty well on gameplay and aesthetics alone if you ask me.
