All Bethesda does now is copy existing cultural and fantasy

I am leaving this thread. I am sorry I created it. I retract everything I said. Skyrim is the absolute Zenith of creative inspiration, and in no way whatsoever could it possibly be improved upon. Bye.

Chill, you can't make a thread expecting everyone to agree with you. It's all just friendly banter.

Yay...another "let's remake Morrowind" thread.

The thing is, when you look at the Elder Scrolls series together it's obvious that Morrowind was very much out of character. The problem is now that everyone who likes the series because of Morrowind expects every ES game to have that kind of bizzare, alien weirdness thrown in.

I don't see how just because a culture draws upon something, that it isn't original. Sure, the Nords share a similar culture to those already mentioned, but their history and lore are vastly different. I didn't realize they needed to be all completely left field and never heard of before. In that case, why are there elves in the game? Boring! The only playable race should be Argonian as they are the closest thing to original Bethesda has. Oh wait, there are already races of hiveminds, so nope, no Argonians. Boo Skyrim! Hiss!

I personally have disliked the move from Nix Hounds, Alits, Kaghouti, Kwama Foragers, Scribs, and Netches to Wolves, Bears, Trolls, and Giants. At least mudcrabs are still around. Same with comberry, hackle-lo-leaf, corkbulb, kresh fibers, and marshmerrow to potatoes, raspberries, tomatoes, corn, and lettuce. It's a little thing that adds a lot of spice to the game. As well designed as Skyrim's world is, I don't find it terribly interesting. Beautiful, yet plain, if you will.

Oblivion and Skyrim definitely seem more sterile to me than Morrowind was. I realize that Morrowind is the odd one out in the series, but I think that it was for the better. With Elsweyr and Black Marsh as possible entries for the next TES game, I can dream can't I?

I can agree with the OP. First time I left Riverwood and headed for Whiterun, for a moment I thought I was in a Lord of the Rings. Whiterun looks like some buffed up version of Rohan.

Skyrim also has this weirdness, it's mostly underground though.

Honestly I don't understand how anyone can say Skyrim's world is bland. It's breathtaking, and the caves are all unique. However I tend to prefer historical-realistic worlds, and Norse-Germanic is my thing, so small details like the longhouses and central fire pits charge me up. At the same time there are unique features, like some of the wall inscriptions and temple architecture remind me more of the ancient Near East than anything Norse.

I do find Whiterun kind of bland, except I do love Jorrvaskr and the Skyforge.
