To all PC users: don't believe a word.

I am now 6 or 7 hours into the game and it is wonderful.. The graphics are incredible..

Btw, not one single crash yet!

Cheers,

Sawacs
Same, I'm 6 or 7 hours into it. I don't like the UI. And I've had a crash. With that said, I am enjoying the game.

If you aren't having fun, you should buy a better pc. Works perfect here on ultra high settings. Alienware.

I definitely agree with the topic poster. The UI is so easy to use, I just can't understand what all the fuss is about it being bad. I play on medium settings with some tweaks and a $70 graphics card and the game looks so amazing and run at a constant 40-50 FPS. I haven't even found a glitch at all, but I'm certain I will run into something eventually. It's just expected in a game of this size, but what's the worst that can happen, reload from my last save and keep playing?

Don't believe the bad posts. Get a copy and find out for yourself.

The UI is definitely better than Oblivion's imo. Sure, it still isn't intuitive and doesn't take advantage of the versatility of a PC but after an hour of playing it is fairly easy to use. I just hate the fact that I will most likely never play an rpg with a PC UI ever again since consoles have completely taken over the market. Makes me sad.

The reason I specifically registered was because of the bad UI to see if it was going to get sorted out. So, what does that say about the game? It seems to me Bethesda are so intwined with the xbox360 and the money coming from it (and Microsoft) that they actually don't give a dam about the other platforms. Almost the advertisments of the game have been the xbox360. The Xbox360 is getting content months in advanced the UI is directly a copy paste of the Xbox360's.

So when it comes down to it, like Oblivion, it's up to the pc community to fix the game.... yet again. Bethesda are either lazy or incompetent. Either that or they are making there bread and butter from the xbox360 and just plain old, don't care. Either way man, I payed money for this game, hard earned money, I at least expect a freaking decent PC interface with hot-keys, shortcots and what-not. I mean Jesus, come on. It's a very basic thing to be expected.

which is sad considering the 360 is by far the wrst performing / capable platform on the market...

idk why any game as big as this would invest / lean towards a system that cant even display a true 1080 image in game (xbox)

so that pretty much solves the issues ihave with skyrim on pc.. ui was made for [censored] xbox controllers to navigate and the graphics / textures seem wierd cuz they were designed for a 720p resolution consol (xbox)

as dissapointed as i am in the game, its still fun, but it has severely lost its addictive essence from previous versions (morrowwind/oblivion)

Its been confirmed that the people that have problems are the ones with a pirated copy. Theyre just outting themselves. Its pretty funny.
So it has nothing to do with the many and varied different PC setups?, I don't support crime, but please consider your words, there are legitimate customers with problems, I'm pretty sure they don't want people like you calling them criminals.

So a game having a bad UI makes it a bad console port?

Go away please....

I can use the mouse for nothing cause there is no mouse pointer. And I can't even bring up the option to disable the retardo Xbox controller. And the game looks like it's straight from Gambryo...'Creation' engine my ass. This is the best example yet of why console hardware is dated as hell. What say you to that?

How on Earth does a bad UI show that the Consoles hard-ware is dated?? It was a development choice not hardware limitations.

Stop trying to act all Elite because you game on PC -_-

He was referring to the low res textures and the use of the Morrowind engine (modified) as an example of how dated console hardware has reduced the potential the game would have had as a PC exclusive.

Tips:

If you can't use your mouse, unplug your controller/gamepad. Skyrim dynamically detects these and uses the controller if it's plugged in.

"Favoriting" an item is done by pressing your third person keybind.

BIG ONE: Once an item is favorited, press the favorite button and hover your mouse over an item, then press CTRL+1-8 to hotkey it. Only 8 hotkeys as of now but better than none.

Now something I need help on. What button picks up books? it -says- "E", but I'm an ESDFer and E is forward for me.
Thank you, didnt know how to bind 1-8.

Also, no crashes here, mouse works fine, UI is OK. I think its much better than oblivions. 4-5 hours in and I love it :)

i played on the xbox for maybe 5-6 hours...the UI is just a dream. I loved everything about the game that I experienced. I hated Oblivion so much on the xbox it drove me mad, Skyrim was all so refreshing. The only gripe I had was the graphics were just horrible...muddy textures, so much texture pop in., etc. People rave about the graphics on the xbox version but I don't get it. Maybe if you sit 50 feet away from your tv and squint it looks awesome but whatever, the xbox hardware is not Beth's fault.

...so trying to get away from that I tried out the PC version. Ok now we've got great graphics (not the head turner that Oblivion was back in the day however it looks fantastic on my rig). But now we've got serious UI issues coming from playing on the xbox. This UI is just a bad, bad idea on PC.

I mean it's really clunky it's just disgusting. It works so flawlessly on the console and such a treat that it's so jarring the way I came into it. I think I can get used to it but it's gonna take a while. I was considering earlier today using a gamepad on the PC vs mouse/keyboard. Because mouse/keyboard are a lost cause atm imho.

he is referring to how outdated xbox hardware is.. cuz thats obviously what skyrim was mostly made for..

xbox--cant display true 1080image in game/slow processor/piss poor gpu

now when u design a game for a system with those specs, and then retrofit it to work on a ps3 or pc (somthing with loads of cpu/gpu power) you will have a poor quality game just simply due to the fact that when u attempt to upscale a 720p game designed for xbox to a TRUE NATIVE 1080p system like PC or PS3, it just dont work for [censored]...

My mouse works fine. I disables the xbox, and upped the look sensitivity, and its fine. used the console to jack up FOV to 95, looks goo. (If you don't know how to do that, you hit the tilde key `, then type fov 95, then hit retrurn. Play around with different numbers.) The menus are a bit convoluted, but the only thing that really bothers me is we back to Morrowind thing, where spells and weapons both have to be equipped in the same place. Sure, you can have a weapon in one hand and a spell in the other, but if you use a bow, or a shield, or a two-hander, it's back to the menu to swap out.

That said, I'm really enjoying the game. I'm sorry others are struggling -- clearly, the game is working differently on different rigs.

There have been threads floating around about the UI behaving poorly on PC. I frankly don't have a clue what they're talking about, it's intuitive, simple, and you can use the mouse for everything! Either they've since patched it or there is something wrong with their computer, because I couldn't be happier.
ITS FREAKING SKYRIM! ITS HERE :ahhh:
You know it's very nice that you are not having problems but some people are and quite frankly posting to say you don't believe them and suggest they don't have a clue what they are talking about is very rude and basically flamebait.

Remember that just because you don't have issues doesn't make it true for everyone. :toughninja:
