Another "bad" robot.

Yeah, but that's a wiki article about a game that's not released yet. There's no citation. We know that he was a scientist before the war and that he's in control of New Vegas at the time of the game, but that's about all we know, right?

"Mr. House was born and lived before the Great War. Before the Great War commenced, he was somewhat of an expert in the field of cryogenic science and robotics. He supposedly froze himself and waited in stasis for a long amount of time (which is the reason he's over 200 years old) until he was woken up and emerged into a city that was falling apart. He is an elusive man, and also plays a big part in why New Vegas was not directly hit by the nuclear devastation."

/Not end thread.

For all we know he could be a ZAX computer that uses an incredibly advanced system to portray "fake" live footage of a man.
Creating an illusion that he is a real man.
Maybe when he woke up from the cryo-sleep he found out he had a disease which was uncureable and decided to gain eternal life by performing that robo-brain thingie.
And places his brain inside a special computer.
So that he's like a hive-mind.
And can control all robots at the same time, see through all their eyes at the same time.

Perhaps. But do you really WANT another computer villain?

Computer villains have become somewhat of a cliche in video gaming.

The Vault wiki is not infallible. It is often inaccurate and lacking important information. I know I personally have had to correct several articles over the course of time and had to fight with the mods there in order to get more detailed (and factual) information added there when the mods did not want it for some reason. You should never rely on what you read on The Vault or any wiki for that matter to back up your argument.

Mostly because it was lame already in Fallout 3, but that's just my opinion.

Maybe he will go all Wizard of Oz on us and act like he is a big bad robot/supercomputer, until we notice him in a sealed room hidden behind a curtain.

We don't know if he's a computor, or a bad guy.

Computer villains have become somewhat of a cliche in video gaming.

Okay.
And human villains then?
Or alien villains?
Zombie villains?
Mutant villains?

Dude, every villain is a cliché if all you're going to go at is the appearance.
It's all about how well characterized it is, and how well presented it is.
What it's goal is and how it's plans on completing it.
Just saying "Ah, it's so cliché" is not really a good point.

I care more about their goals, plans, history and personality than what they look like.

UnDeCafIndeed, was it because of that he was a computer or how his character, goal, history and presentation was?

[edit]

I mean, this is the reason why most people are against aliens.
Just cause Mothership Zeta, the DLC, was bad doesn't mean that aliens are bad.
Aliens could still have a great story attached to them.
It's all about how the developers decide to unfold that story.
How they decide to design the characters/aliens.
What their motives is.

But just cause MZ was bad doesn't mean aliens are crap.
And just cause Eden was bad doesn't mean a ZAX villain is crap.

Seeing as he's an expert in robotics and cryogenics (and already has used cryogenics) I imagine he may be an android or may have some robotic parts

being a computer would be a let down. He's based off Howard Hughes apparently so hopefully he is closer to Tenpenny than Eden

Yeah, I've read it. Again, that's from a wiki and has no citation. We don't know which parts of it are fact and which are supposition.

Because it was a computer, mostly. A computer usually (to be believable) has basic characteristics of a computer, as Eden had. A human allways has bigger possibilities in that department. In my opinion.

Of course we could have something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpugML3CsSQ, but I'd call it just silly. :P

Most of the time if it is a computer villain then the reason they are "evil" is because they are following the most "logical" means to whatever end they were trying to accomplish. Even though Eden had a bit more personality to him he was kind of the same way. "logically" using the FEV to kill all irradiated humans was the path to restoring humanity to it's previous state.

Most AI antagonists these days are cliche because their reasons for doing the things they do are just what is most logical in all the scenarios they've gone through.

Having it be a human brain interfacing through a computer is an alright idea with me though.

He's a germophobe who's talking with people through his computer just so he can stay isolated from "germs". (Speculation, but it's also speculation that he's a robot.)

This, so yeah I really would dislike another robot twist, but knowing that the writers know their stuff, I can rest easy

I mean in Fallout 3 we had President Eden. I thought that was a pretty cool twist to the story. But, Mr.house is a robot to right? I really don't want another evil robot at the antagonist. This is the only thing that I am not to happy about with this game.

Are you trashing on our president? :obliviongate:
