Another day, another major visual glitch in this shoddy port

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:22 pm

Seems every single issue with this release is universal to all platforms. Hopefully that means a patch is in order.

Hopefully...

It costs time and money to put a patch out, I'm very sure from past experience with Bethesda that they do not care enough for their customers to do this. Even though doing that is flawed, considering that if they don't do this they will lose customers. They can only lose so many customer before they run out of them entirely.

Well eventually I will trade in my copy or sell it. I called Gamestop today and they will give me $16 trade in credit total. That's barely 50% what I paid for the game, all because of the laziness and disrespect Bethesda has for it's paying customers.

I guess if they don't patch it I am seriously going to reconsider buying Doom 4, Fallout 4, or new Elderscrolls. If this is how they treat their fans. I will also make sure to express my discontent with Bethesda as a company on my youtube channel as often as I can.

Oh and I also emailed Bethesda customer support 2 days ago asking if I could exchange my ps3 copy for the pc version because I was unsatisfied with the load times and glitches. They never even returned my email.

They take FOREVER to patch stuff unless it's vital (IE Skyrim's first two weeks), otherwise they're just not reliable. You can forget about me buying any future Elder Scrolls or Doom games if this trend continues.

Whatever happened to the Id mantra of, it's done when its done. Doom 3 BFG Edition clearly wasn't "done" but they still rushed it out the door. This couldn't have anything to do with their new Bethesda overlords could it? HMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm!

It most certainly does, I predicted this when that happened. and it seems I was right. It isn't just Bethesda, I have seen other developers do this very same thing. My game buying is very limited as a result, I'm just a drop in the bucket, but its the principle of it.

Beth games are fantastic when they work. That means that smart consumers will stick to only those games that have been properly fixed ie. GOTY edition. It is always dangerous to play games that use us for the beta testing (which seems like everybody these days....). I have also lost count of the number of friends who have been burnt by Beth PS3 games. Unfortunately it is PC, 360 or nothing now.....

@X'tyfe: I am Mr. Chris on ZDoom forums if you've not noticed.

I find it even more dangerous to withdraw the original DOOM 3, Final Doom and Master Levels from Steam and giving either options to search for a copy on Ebay/Amazon or in DOOM 3's case, the inferior BFG Edition.

For prices via Amazon.com:

DOOM 3: $76
DOOM 3 RoE: $38

Sure, alienate us even more by doing this!

Also it takes time for Id to patch anything as well, look how long the RAGE patches took.

Indeed, saw Bouncy here as well. Gez was obvious and I think Nash posts here too.

On the topic of these missing effects from Doom3, they are probably not bugs at all. My theory is that if they censored the original games, they probably did the same to Doom3. So the missing blood and such, thats where it all went. All this over one single country, its stupid but it makes sense from a business stand point. It would cost more if they released this special censored version in just one country.

Unfortunately yeah, the problem is its a sad evil of doing business in today's economy, now unless the laws in germany change (which isnt likely) we are going to have to just...suffer through it I guess.

I can also sorrowfully confirm that the Helltime effects bug also effects the Xbox 360 edition of the game, also a expansion too the effects, all explosion (Grenade, Rocket Launcher) effects also disappear, so do plasma impact effects from the Plasma Gun and BFG 9000 the only weapon that IS NOT effected is the Double barreled shotgun for some reason that is not entirely clear.

Buy a USED copy that is NON-STEAM. They go as cheap as $5.
Also: Ebay! Some awesome people there selling it even cheaper.

Id/Bethesda, you can't force people to buy the BFG: Edition, that's stupid.
I understand if alot of people love it, but you can't just try to take total control of things.

Beth isnt doing it, Amazon allows people to sell their own goods as well, and usually with releases like BFG, they will jack up the price.
I am not defending Beth or Id just pointing this out, when Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary came out, independent sellers on amazon where selling copies of the original game for 150 bucks a shot, not all of them though.

Okay, thenks for clarifying.

Still, there are lots of cheap deals to get the Doom games, I've never understood why anyone would spend so much on the id packs, when you can spend much less on the games individually :/
