Another day, another major visual glitch in this shoddy port

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:20 am

Yet another glitch, this time occurring in the Resurrection of Evil expansion portion. Basically what happens is the moment you get the heart artifact's slow down time power, using it causes all bullet impact particle effects to cease working. Any saved game made after using the artifact will permanently have the particle effects no longer present. Even if you reset your console.

Here is a video of the glitch in action.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJEE7_TH1uc

So not only will you lose the blood spatter effect on walls and the floor after loading a save game or loading a new level, but using the heart artifact will cause you to lose all bullet impact particle effects.

Oh dear. This game is looking more horrible with each passing moment. Games like Doom should never be released if they are not going to be faithful to the original version. It would be like Beth taking out the gore from the VATS camera in a 20th Anniversary edition. And I though newer tech would run the game better....

haters gonna hate. I love people who try to exploit even those most insignificant game physics errata in their own personal gain to halt the sales of some major release. Because they wont halt anything.... it'll go on to sell millions of copies and be loved by 99.9999% of those who bought it. And they just flag themselves for trolling. Posting on a forum is no gurantee that any bugs you want to report will be seen or heard by the support groups of the respective publisher/developer. If you have issues with some of these *extremely insignificant* game physics bugs, you should email Bethesda or send them a message, or id software for that matter instead of continuously trying to exploit your issues to the community who is already well aware of your concerns.

What? All I want is a patch for this game so it's at least on par with the 2004 version of the game, is that too much to ask when i've already given bethesda my money?

Most certainly not. I agree. There are things that need to be patch and you have valid, legitimate issues that need to be addressed. However, they can't stop and drop everything they are doing to release a patch today, just for you. If you email or message them directly, it will help speed up the bug reporting process. Having to dig through pages and pages of forum posts is in no way a surefire method to quickly get a problem resolved unless its something the community can provide a resolution for (but the issues your posting about appear to only be addressable by the source and development). I can't think how nightmarish that would be for *any* support dev on any forum to expect to pull bug resports strictly out of hundreds of posts. Im sure they review a handful of them, especially posts in support channels that attract a lot of responses and attention, but the real way to flag an issue is to contact them directly via mod message or contact email. Posting every non-major issue and then griping no one has responded in a short amount of time is very teeth-grinding for the rest of us. I cannot stress how many times I've reported a bug over the years, never heard a response back, but still come to find it was fixed in a later patch... so letting them know directly and not hearing back is not uncommon. They are often busy fixing the very bugs your emailing them about. This isn't always the case... but its the best option to try.

I made a compiled list of issues in a ps3 tech support topic that I continue to update when I find new bugs, so they shouldn't have to wade through pages of posts.

Yes, it actually is. They don't give 2 [censored] the moment you hand over your money. They don't care about you, they have your money now and are not obligated to anything more.
It's sick and disgusting but thats the way this industry is now, it defies the basic business principle that without a customer a business fails. Unfortunately this can not happen until ALL customers stop buying their products, which is unlikely with all the uninformed or otherwise deaf/blind to it still doing it.

A patch is extremely unlikely. Bethesda isn't well known for releasing patches that fix anything. If you want your voice heard, make sure all gaming news outlets on the internet know. The last thing they want is to look bad in anyway, and thats the best way to deal with them.

There aren't really any gaming news sites anymore, at least not reputable ones like the old days. Social media sites i'd say are the only way to spread word around.

Eurogamer actually pointed out all those issues in their review, exepct for ROE decals/smoke dissapearing after artefact use. They are about to make a FACE-OFF of console versions. So maybe they'll mention all those issues again. Anyway it's crossplatform problems, all versions need fixing!

That sums it up just right.
Nothing from his post was logical, to be honest.

A real fan will realize when the company has done wrong, and point the issues so they can try and fix them. Don't just tell them "it's great, I love it i love it!" because that's how they get worse and worse, and yet stay confident.

There is nothing wrong with liking this release. I have only minor complaints. The benefits of some of the new additions out weigh those complaints. Praising a release because I am enjoying it is not an offense in anyway, shape and form... and because I like it, I think I will gladly defend its honor. You have the option to dislike, which you've expressed tiredlessly, and now gents, your comments are starting to cross that fine line from legitimate opinions to senseless trolling.

Here we go with the trolling accusations.

I can confirm the dissappearing impact effects after using the artifact does occur on the PC version as well.

Funny, most of what they've (and I) have posted seems so very real, while your posts are starting to resort to f@nboyism

Edit: Not to mention your lack of awareness on what trolling is. We're not trying to piss anyone off. On the contrary, we're kinda pissed because if anything it's us who were trolled. This is almost as bad as when they showed the PS3 FF7 HD demo :/ Except we actually got something so that's good, lol

Fighting between each other is not going to help anything. But I stand behind what Vynzent has said. We have legitimate concerns, I'm sorry that you take offense to that.

Seems every single issue with this release is universal to all platforms. Hopefully that means a patch is in order.
