Any advice on delaying the inevitable lag? And I'm thinking

Hahaha! You see what we have to go through in Bethesda games. So I guess you can buy the GOTY edition, if you're willing to go through the process Reflexmatrix explained. Another bach of great testers Bethesda used, right?

Well to be fair it was 4j's fault, and to be even fairer, this was literally -the only- major bug causing problems for the majority of GOTY Oblivion players. 4j did well with their port. Bethesda could have patched it themselves..but y'know, that would require some small ammount of effort. As for the process itself, it takes about five minuites and you get a laugh out of it, so it could be worse. The bug is only viewed so harshly as a problem because only a few people know this particular work around. I see it as one of those funny bugs we laugh over.

Although this only works if you own the european version of the GOTY. If your game is australlian, you need to change the language to spanish. I'm not sure what you do if your game is american.

I agree to a certain amount with you. However, as you stated, not everyone knows the work around to this bug. So, if someone who has never heard of this work around buys this game, they won't be able to figure out what the problem is. Again, Bethesda shows their devotion to their fans (sacrcasm) by not fixing the bug. I'm okay with a few glitches here and there but broken quests and game breaking bugs are not acceptable in any game. No matter how big they are.

Personally I ordered myself the 5th anniversary oblivion edition (traded in my GOTY aaages ago) and I am going back to cyrodil for some r and r while this [censored] blows over and bethesda sort themselves out.

Aye it does, tho i'm not sure about workarounds for it. It's more than likley the origional GOTY oblivion in new pretty packaging with a free map thrown in, in which case the workaround i was talking about earlier still stands. Besides, you need to actually sleep for vampism to take hold, so if you're worried about it, when you contract polymorphic haemitophilia just don't sleep until you can reach a divine shrine or potion of cure disease. The problem only really affects those who become vampires but change their minds and want to go back to normal anyway.

To get vampirism you must go for three days with the disease, then -when you sleep- on or after the third day, you will become a vampire. You don't actually need to sleep in oblivion, and you can run around with the disease for as long as you want without becoming a vampire -as long as you don't sleep- Since sleeping is the only way to raise your level in oblivion it's advised you make an effort to remove the disease so you can sleep and advance in level, but it's not absolutley nessecary. Besides, you can find potions of cure disease in every alchemist shop in every ttown or city in the game. They are by no means rare.

And I fully agree with you, oblivion was beautiful, one of my all time favorite games ever :)

Just enjoy the game as much as you can, until it gets to the point where it becomes unplayable / unenjoyable...btw I am 140 hours in so I'd say I've had worthwhile entertainement.....considering I probably only put that much time into say KZ3 before moving on..

And don't what ever you do let the others get you down...some have had bad experiences, but not everyone has (to the point of unplayability) and a lot of people who post tend to be those when things have broken and those who invest a disproportionate amount of time (rinse games)...how many copies of the game have been sold....

It's crazy, but my game was a slideshow the very first time I played it. The issue came and went, but even out of the gate it was shaky. I'm waiting for the next patch (and then some when others have reported on how it improves or further diminishes things), then I'll give it the genuine go. Only in this industry will people sell you an untested/unfinished product as finished and get away with it.

Not hating on Bethesda, this is a widespread problem, just hating how the industry treats it's paying customers and supporters.

I smell a troll

Maybe you should give MW3 a go, get yourself a headset and enjoy.
