I played Oblivion on easy for a while and found no elements of challenge there. So I played it on normal, the class 1:1 ratio of combat and kept it ever since. That is the way the game was meant to be played, so I played it that way.

Skyrim is way to easy. At least in Oblivion it would be very easy to "fall behind" in the level scaling if you weren't familiar to how it worked.

When I first started, there were a few times when I had to revert to Novice though, but only for those fights. And on my newer characters I never have to.

I played on Master for awhile and found it too frustrating, played on Expert for a bit and it was a better experience but still found some things overly annoying. I finally settled on Adept and it feels a bit too easy but we will see if I increase it again.

I honestly hate hard difficulties if I the game doesn't represent my skill. Especially games like CoD or Madden where the dice become so weighted in the AIs favor. Games like Devil May Cry is fine because I actually feel like I've gotten better at the game due to the difficulty.

I play on pc with the wonky cursor/mouse issues that no patch seems to fix (old pc), so I am on novice with low graphics...still having loads of fun so I must be doing something right!

When I first got the game I had to play on novice for about the first 30 levels.

I did when I started, as this is my first ES game. It quickly became way too easy.

Mostly i play on master, but i have dropped the difficulty a few times to get past some annoying fights,1 was constantly being 1 hit killed by a damn bandit leader, the other was a dragon that kept chewing me up and spitting me out,a one bite kill that time :)

Same here. Every game I get is always played on the easiest setting. Well, except lately for FFXIII-2 which I'm playing on normal as it doesn't seem any different than easy.

Novice. I'm terrible at 'twitch' and I'd rather not spend most of my time dealing with combat (and/or exploiting the living daylights out of the system to make combat manageable).

I play on Novice, also, but do you think a lot of players are actually going to admit it here in front of everyone? Hahahaha

I play on adept, and only turn down to novice when I've gotten myself into a boss fight that I can't win on adept difficulty.

When I think of novice, I think of someone who wants to rp a hero or badass who always win, not a coward.

Honesty for me that`s pretty much true on rpg's. My real life is crazy enough. I just want to enjoy the game, not get all stressed .

Me too except 1 game(series) which is resident evil. I've actually beat them all on professional which blows my mind lol

I play Master about 99% of the time. Once in a while you come across something that your character is simply unable to beat. The other night my level 21 character was attacked by an Elder dragon on the long walk from Whiterun to Markarth. There was no getting around it. I tried going north and south but the thing kept killing me over and over. Somewhere around the 8th time I finally just reset the thing to Novice. It felt dirty and I was ashamed. But it was the only way to keep going. If I meet some creature in a dungeon that I can't beat, then I'll just leave the dungeon and come back later when I've levelled up to the point where I stand a chance.

I don't see the point in playing on any other level. I choose my weapons/magic/perks so that I can use them in a "meaningful" way. By playing on Novice it's just shooting fish in a barrel. I don't care if anyone else plays Novice; it's about what's fun for the player. But for me, it's not fun to be able to take out and elder dragon with a couple of shock spells and some steel arrows from an unenchanted Orc bow.
