Is anyone else giving their own little 'goodbye' to Oblivion

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 12:50 pm

I've still got a Total Conversion for Oblivion to finish, so the disk will remain in my computer for a few months still (unused for a few weeks though).

Why you dont copy the look of your oblivion character to skyrim and gave it the same name as in oblivion? :) So you dont stop playing oblivion indirectly, you are just walking to another landscape with better graphic :)

You're not far off, actually... She will be reincarnated in Skyrim. It's a long story, but my main character follows me to every RPG I play and has for the last 20 years!

I already said goodbye to it yesterday by completing the Mages-Guild quest-line. I was never before interest enough to play Mages Guild quests to the end but now when Skyrim is here soon I realized I'll never play them trough if I'm not doing it now. Only thing now I haven't done in Oblivion is Knights of Nine - and it's only because I haven't found it on any store or webstore on my region.

this expect i STARTED with oblivion, then to fallout, THEN to morrowind/daggerfall, neither of which has more that 10 hours in (probably combined)

That svcks I got over 1000+ hours in the fallout games. Maybe 10 hours in oblivion and I didn't play anything else.

I have never played fallout games - don't know if there's any connection with TES expect the bethesda.
1000+ hours Morrowind, 1000+ hours Oblivion, 1000+ hours for modding the both. About 20h Arena, (about 80h Dawnstar) - never tried the Daggerfall because it has so confusing installing that I was not able to get it work.

Not goodbye, maybe goodbye for now, but Oblivion will remain a game in my collection. I hope Skyrim will be as good (even better?) but I can't say goodbye to Oblivion either.

Every time I try to play Oblivion again I just think, "I wish I was playing Skyrim right now." And, so, I exit the game and uninstall it.

My final session yesterday: left my mage sitting by the fire in Rosethorn Manor, reading a book about Skyrim and Nords (forget which one)... it felt right. I will come back to Oblivion, but it might be a few months. He's a high level character so I imagine him putting the book down, going to bed and dying in his sleep (of too much age / too many battles) that night. The Manor is sold, the body is buried, eaten by worms. The worms are eaten by birds. The birds fly north! North to Skyrim! Cue the music!

I think I'll play Oblivion for a bit while the games installing. I'll make a new character, and play through the tutorial one last time; I feel like it would make a fitting good bye.

To be honest, i've played Oblivion to death since it first came out, and haven't played that much of it this year, it's been a Fallout New Vegas year so far, but that's going to change tomorrow

My goodbye was removing Oblivion from my Steam 'favorites' section and replacing it with Skyrim. Then we cooked and ate the Adoring Fan.

And there was much rejoicing.

Tonight, my Bosmer chugged some Skooma, strode through the gates of Skingrad and wiped the cobblestone with every guard to be found. Then he took the long trip to Dive Rock and jumped off.

He'll be reincarnated in Skyrim, however...

Oh, right. Need to uninstall Oblivion and to delete my mods collection.

I won't do it to Morrowind, though.

I just deleted all my Oblivion saves and DLC off my HDD. No more OB for me, thx.

I will keep my CE of it for some time, however, just for nostalgia reasons.

But yeah, definitely not going back to something I've beaten to death 6 times over.

Skyrim is the future, baby.

I quit playing Oblivion when I really got into looking things up of Skyrim and I just couldn't play Oblivion anymore knowing all the improvements Skyrim was making.

I love Oblivion, but I've played it so much that it's dead to me now. If I ever play it again it won't be a proper playthrough, more of a sightseeing trip to my favourite old locations, like Anvil harbour at sunset.
