Anyone else going to not use dragon shouts?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 12:02 pm

For my first playthrough, I just want to play a normal character like the other TES games, using my own skills to get what I want rather than the dragonborn abilities from word walls. What about you?

Paying a cat person 200 gold to learn a new spell =/= your own skills

No, not planning to skip one of the main "nifty features" of the new game. Not going to skip the main quest, either.

Absolutely not. If I can yell epic dragon words of powers that make people fall over because of how Bad-A I am, I'm going to do it.

Actually hadn't even considered it, maybe in a later playthrough. For now however I think they are too cool to ignore

Not on the first playthought..... You were a normal character in all the others, it's nothing new.

And since the whole game, in game charcters and quests relate to you not being normal, it will make ZERO sense to pretend to be. Unless you will just ignore everything said and make up something for why you are absorbing Dragon Souls.

It might be fun late ron, but for the sake of the entire in-game world, I don't think it will be worth it.

I won't use it excessively but I would assume some of dungeons require or at least are a lot less painful to used them such as the ones in the videos we have seen.

So I will use em when they are called for not for a main go too,

Yes, but on the first playthrough I won't tackle as Dragonborn so I'll think of them as Thu'um, "Way of the Voice" unless it's the same as Shouts. And even so if the lore allocates that Thu'um is the same as what Dragonborn/Dragons speak/use aslong as Nords without the soul of a dragon are known to be able to use it, it'll be fine.

I'm also using roleplaying to allocate different things. The 3D map is simple a leather binded magic infused scroll that once opened shows a brief light, and then to the correct user gives a vision of the surrounding area/province.

Quite the opposite, really, OP. I plan on using them not only in-game, but IRL also.

It all depends on the character. Some of my characters are gonna be "ordinary", while others will be over-the-top uber Gods, I'm sure. Just like my characters in Oblivion actually. Some are ordinary and svck at dungeon diving & combat, while others are simply masterful at it.

I am going to use dragon shouts. They are there for a reason. We are dragonborn and therefore we have this ability. :) So yes...I am going to use it.

I'm not so sure if I even have a choice. It doesn't fit my characters persona. I mean do you think my dagger is going to have any effect on a creature 10 times my size?.... I'm going to be needing to poison my dagger quite often in and out of combat. No timeouts given in those situations.
