Anyone else hate the 12+ rating?

Instead of quoting someone who didn't prove why my argument was irrelevant why don't you show my why my point isn't relevant. Tell me how making a game have a higher maturity rating = a better game

You haven't yet understood what the rating by PEGI, USK etc. stands for - and that is not the fun quality of a game. Have I made myself clear? Guess so.

Yeah you are right. I'm going to back out of this thread. Already posted why the OP is wrong and have posted in extent on my feelings on why maturity rating doesn't make or break a game.

Time for bed now.

Its funny that you "think" you're right about something that's clearly opinionated.

You bring other topics into the thread like I was talking about it making or breaking a game. Its repugnant to say the least.

You can't prove an opinion wrong, it's impossible.

And yeah, have a goodnight, sleep tight knowing your unheard argument was moot. Lol.

Usually from what i've seen, is the ratings from Europe, like 12+ PEGI, would be rated T over here in the US.

I've never seen a PEGI 12+ and have it be 17+ Mature in the US.

If I read this right you just agreed with the leperchans.

Maybe I am just reading this wrong but it sounds like your both stating that rating is irrelevant and that the quality of the game isn't dependent upon rating. Lerpchans is just focusing specifically at the OP and the arugment that a higher rated game wouldn't make it necessarily better.

Now towards the OP. When you make a thread depicting your own opinion specifically towards the quality of a game, you are automatically a target for scrutiny, hence you must deal with the consequences.

Now for my opinion. I agree with leperchans, this whole idea that a game is dumb downed when it loses mature rating is ridiculous. I can think of quite a few mature games that are not exactly "smarted up" because they are mature. GTA series, Saints Row Series, Gears of War....Modern or Black Ops CoD series....the list could go on. Sure the games are fun but they are not exactly that deep and rich of games and yet they all hold more mature ratings.

The rating system is just to tell you how much boobs and violence and swear words you can expect. It doesn't matter at all. I don't know anyone who even pays attention to them, even kids below the age of 18 can usually get their hands on them without any sort of hinderance.

The only reason I would dislike anything other than them aiming for a 17+ rating is because the artists who write the story and create the world have to restrict themselves otherwise. It isn't like ot would limit things a lot but it could potentially do so. Simple as that.

The ratings of Morrowind and Oblivion are completely irrelevant. Both games deserved a 17+ rating but the people who played and rated them didn't do a thorough job and missed many of the mature things hecause the games are so [censored] huge. So yeah, the ratings for both Morrowind and Oblivion ARE completely irrelevant, simply because the raters [censored] up lol.

I would prefer a 17+ rated game. Simply so there are no restrictions on storytelling, art design and world building. Alas, that isn't likely to happen.

A 12 rating in the UK means T . Which will contain sixual themes and some swearing.

12+ isn't playable for me online 'cause I don't want to be surrounded by kiddos anymore. Even after some ten years I can still hear that frakkin "muahahaha, gimme a gold coin, pleeeease! Got some gold coins already but I don't tell ya, muahahaha!"

Thank you :(
