Anyone else think conjuration is boring?

Everquest 1

That game had great concept of class structure. Every class felt unique. Granted TES is now just p custom classes, but no matter what I pick I do not feel very unique the way character progression and building works.

You obviously didn't play everquest at the beginning. Classes were so out of balance it was pitiful.

Oh I did. I was not talking about the execution of, but the structure of the classes. Further, I was not refering to the game "at release". AAs further added even more specialization to the classes. I don't get that sense of progression in Skyrim or sense of uniqueness.

Conjuration was one of my first schools to get to 100. I do have a huge problem with it... 80% of the time when I try to summon something it doesn't cast.

I use dual dremora lords and I don't really have overpower issues with them. I'm a destruction mage, 1 on 1 I can take any enemy, all the Dremoras do is crowd control. Against more powerful enemies they often die. Prior to the dual dremoras I was running dual flame atronachs(the other two get stuck to much, plus I use a lot of fire spells) and I haven't seen that big of a difference between them in terms of strength. I see a difference against bandits, the lords tend to kill a lot, but against giants, deathlords, dragons, etc. the lords tend to die almost as quickly as the atronachs. And against bandits at level 53 the bandits die pretty quick regardless of what you use.

If it actually cast 100% of the time it would be my favorite school.

Well for crowd control you'd use Illusion. I guess you meant "bait" :)

I made a 2h warrior that is also a necromancer(among other things :P),something like a deathknight,bone knight,whatever you want to call him.

I can say that in the heat of battle, losing seconds to target a dead body from afar seems to be the most easy way to get mauled in the meantime,if you're playing on a harder difficulty.Compared to that, summoning something else is better imo.And that proves to be sorta overpowered and boring. There are also problems with pathing, and so on.

Conjuration is a bit meh, although it makes the game considerably easier.

You have 80% magic absorption from alternation perk and Atronach standing stone. It is bugged and absorbs your own conjuration skill.

My Mage is incredibly fragile. Without conjuration I would be at a serious disadvantage against any tank-like opponent. I try to go into most battles alone or maybe with one conjured pet, but if I get one-shotted enough times I just say screw it and send the posse to help me clean house. I never just hang back and watch them because that would be boring, but it's also boring to get my head cut off with a power attack when I have full health and 200 armor (Alteration magic only). If the enemy wants to get up close and personal, I usually have no choice unless I can catch them with ice spells and slow them down. If they get close I am toast, though archers one-shot me all the time too.

I use it usually for the conjured sword and bow. Also to conjure a familiar which is fun. I join the fight myself anyhow so it doesnt really phase me. Its fun to me honestly but i see both the lack of control and summons to be a little straining on the fun factor. Beyond that I think its great!

It sure isn't boring and why are you using it for every battle if you're so powerful it takes away the fun for you? Just don't. I only have one Dremora Lord and I have Argis. Argis is so good I don't always need the Dremora Lord so I don't summon. Sometimes I lose my companion on the rocks and go fight alone until he catches up with me. There are many ways to use the features to get the most out of them without boring yourself. Also, I never get tired of hearing, "No match at all!"

It's also funny when they yell "I'll feast on your heart!!!" to a skeleton or a ghost.

Maybe because when you break it down by Perk points, it weights it to where being a Mage takes a considerable amount more of Perk point investment than a Melee character. As an Archer, I do not have to choose to put points into anything else. The same goes for Two-Hand and One-Hand. Blocking is sometimes also used, so at most you might need to invest in two Perk trees. To say it is almost mandatory for a character to have to invest in 2+ Perk trees to be viable in Magic is silly.

If Perks did not exist, there would be no issue however. Since they chose to split the Perk trees per school, well now, now you got yourself a problem.

oh really? So you don't need armor? Smithing? Blocking? Sneak?

AND the combat perks (armor and weapons.... not sneak or blocking) are also all 5/5 perk usage for the first rank in each tree.... 5 perks gets you half a tree in any magic school!

Um, no I don't need smithing, blocking, or sneak as a Mage. I don't wear any armor (smithing) and don't carry a shield (blocking). I also can use muffle or become invisible if I need to sneak anywhere. I have ZERO perks for any of those and my character is at level 42.

Also, 5 perks will barely get you started when it comes to Destruction or Conjuring.

It would probably be better if Beth didn't remove many of the possible summons.

I enjoy Conjuration alot. It requires Master difficulty to be challenging, but using an interplay of conjuration, illusion and destruction is fun for me.

Oblivion had 20 types of summons. Skyrim has only 1/4 of that, which makes Conjuration pretty dull. There just isnt enough variety among what you can summon. Its just Flame/Frost/Storm Atronachs, Dragon Priests and Dremora Lords.
