former scout sniper, 8541.

You are such a badass. /swoon

My dad was in the Vietnam War, though not quite out front. He actually witnessed the death of one of his close friends (Said they were in a shelter and a shell hit the room next to him. All that remained of the guy was a red mess), and is extremely bitter about that war (as many are). As his son, I think it's cool, though the feeling isn't mutual.

I come from a military background. Grandfather and uncle were both in the army, and great grandfather was a military doctor.

I can't see myself in the military though. Military doctor, perhaps, but unlikely.

My grandma served in the military for all of a few minutes. She was in the army, served, left and had kids. She signed up again years later. When she asked if she'd get her rank back, they said no, you're a private again. She decided to walk.

I've been contemplating military myself, seeing as that I don't have any *useful* skills and have no direction in life. So, I decided, if I have zero direction, why not put my life on the line and protect the people who do have direction? Even though I'll have no direction, at least I can give myself a purpose.

I thought pretty hard about it too but you need a bachelors degree to get anything good. Well anything that interested me anyway.
Still something I'm considering once I've served my time in the oil field though.
