I'm only 14, but I've grown up in the military, my Dad was a marine and my grandpa was in the navy. It's all I can see myself doing, Except being a comedian. anyone here in the military around the world?

I was under the impression that he's just an army brat (not an attack, or even a bad term really - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_brat_(U.S._subculture)).

I could be wrong, tho.

You should one-up your family in manliness and become a lumberjack.

I'm doing Army ROTC at the moment and training to become an officer. I'm hoping to go infantry or at least get one of my first choices.

I have been in the US Army since 2008 as Information technology specialist(fancy way to say IT nerd). I have had no issues with it, you're 14 so you have quiet some time before you can join to think about it and it's a pretty serious thing to debate too when it does come close to that time.

I should have joined the Navy when they wanted me to become a Nuclear Technician after my ASVAB.

I would have pressed the big red button, tho.

Yeah if my left eye wasn't that bad, I'd either want to fly for the air force or army.

I actually wanted to fly helicopters. Coast guard would be ideal, I'd love to fly the HH-65C Dolphin.

If it's all you can see yourself doing, them you might want to take a step back and look at whether it's really for you, or just what you know from growing up -not the same btw..

take care kid, and make sure you think before you sign.. ;)

I have thought about it for some time. I'm thinking being a combat engineer is what i want to do, maybe a sniper.

I was in the army for like one day. I was sent back home due to bad knees (from excessive abuse playing football 'soccer' through out the years) and other leg-related problems.

My father was in the swedish navy for 9 years back in the 70s. There's a website dedicated to http://www.alvsnabben.se/image/bgabn-sm.jpg, with a lot of pics from trips and so on that my father was on. I'm especially fond of one picture when he and some others are desperately trying to "get rid of" the alcohol before the end of the trip when the customs go aboard
