Anyone keeping a Skyrim diary?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 11:01 pm

I'm thinking about trying to document everything I do in Skyrim. Sort of a journal documenting my adventures and what I do. I think mostly so once I am deep into the game I can go back and use it for reference purposes... like keeping track of characters, enemies, places etc. Anyone else doing this or is the idea totally nuts?

I might mod a ingame Diary. Would be quite awesome to sit down after a long days haul, writing about what you've done for the day.

Yuuup. :D I bought a black leather journal the other day and I will use it to make an alchemy list, compile ingredients for crafting, keep track of npc's if they have a quest I don't want to take right now, etc.

I was thinking about making some sort of journal type short stories based on my characters. The basic idea was I would write based on what happens during my playthrough, and when my character dies, the short story is over. I would make like a little series based on all my characters. I had this idea for awhile now but never decided to actually do it, mainly because I am not that great of a writer :P, but I was thinking about at least trying it for Skyrim.

I'm thinking it will be along the line of Cliff's Notes.... just jotting down where I go, what monsters I kill, items I pick up, etc. In bullet point format.

ex: 11/12/2011- Went to X cave. Killed X enemies. Picked up X, X, and X. Dies X amount of times.

etc.

thats not a bad idea it would help you keep track of what you did that day in skyrim and you can write about how and what you did in dungeons, seems fun i might do that

I never thought of trying to make some sort of diary for my in-game adventures. I rather like the idea as it could be something fun to read about later on.

I wasn't planning on it, but now that you mention it I might. It might be interesting. Probably a somewhat exaggerated form of what happens in the game to make it not completely [censored] to read.

Nah. I have a notebook to keep a record of side quests I passed on so I can go back later. Also taking notes for ingredients and smithing stuff.

This is...pretty cool actually, you're making me seriously consider doing this.

Edit: I guess it will depend a lot on what the in-game "journal" and state tracker is like.

oh CRAP! i forgot about this. my friend kept a fallout 3 journal and its the coolest damn thing. lists of bobblehead locations and weapons locations. its pretty damn awesome to have a little notebook of things you damn FOUND. makes a better game if you ask me, less, "whered i found this sword again? screw it *uesp.net*"

I've done that with MYST games. Partially out of necessity though, if you don't keep notes.. MYST's puzzles will be the end of you. :P

RIVEN was beyond confusing! Lol, any time I got stuck, or just didn't know what to do, I'd go ride one of the trams just for the hell of it, ahaha!

I loved how your quest journal (log) from Morrowind was written from the perspective of your character. I hope that is how tracking quests in Skyrim is implemented.
