At least this proves that gamesas still has it. Personally, I like it when a game manages to trigger a fear response, but I haven't experienced this in over a decade... and it was gamesas that did it. I was playing Daggerfall late one night, lights off, headphones on. I was skulking about Daggerfall, playing my wood-elf burgler, thinking of doing some burgling. I heard a sound, something like wind, and looked around apprehensively. In the distance, I saw something that looked a bit like gleaming red eyes, and saw an odd message: Ghost just died. Thoroughly perplexed, I was unprepared for what happened next. In an instant, my headphones filled with the late King Lysandus' angry roar, "VENGEANCE!" I just about fell out of my chair!

I think I have a reaction to a certain sound effect because of Daggerfall. I've heard it in movies, on a pinball machine once, and I think it was used in Quake (fat grenade throwing thing, as I recall), as well... but I first heard it in Daggerfall. The roar of an Ancient Vampire, indicating that death will come to me very soon...
