I had ED and Arcade as companions, didn't know I was supposed to dismiss them. I finish SM, come out, they're gone. OK, fine, go to the 38, they're not there. WTF? Fine, go to Primm, there's ED, Companion mode on, he still has my stuff, awesome.

Go to the Old Mormon Fort, there's Gannon, wearing the gear I gave him...and he just say "Hi". He will not resume companion mode, no matter what I do.

Help?

I'm not using any mods, didn't clear cache or anything for SM, just wandered through normally. I don't have a save game from before SM, and I didn't finish the final quests, which means I've not done Arcade's quests. Please don't tell me I have to start over

do you mean dm? wdf is sm? dm is dead money, nd arcade kinda sux, so me personally.... i would hit up veronica, lol and if u already distorted BoS, then boone.....

On the Fallout wiki it says EDE will turn hostile iif his quest is left unfinished prior to starting DM. I created a new character just to see what issues would crop up so I left all companions alone except Veronica. Not sure what would happen to Gannon but you might be looking at doing some stuff over from an earlier save or wait for a proper fix if they ever release one. I still have hope as DLC's are still coming and it would be a shame if they didn't address a few of the glaring bugs.

Fallout can be fun but its kinda better to wait till everything is ironed out on the console side of things as this came has to amny issues at release. Best way to play is the PC as the online community does a better job of fixing known issues before proper patches ever arrive.

SM= Sierra Madre. But yeah next time OP use DM=Dead Money.

Hopefully they'll have a patch for it soon.

I had no issues with ED, but I'd done all his quests. I've done all the companion quests but 2: Gannon and Cassidy. I'm stuck on Cassidy as I've 2 conflicting quests, I can do one or the other, and I'm not sure which I want to do.

Arcade gives you the Enclave quest tho...

It's Just a glitch in the game it happens all the time to me , just keep talking to them and the options should appear back but If not your F****** sorry

Arcade have trouble joining when ED-E is with you. Send EDE to 38 and ask again. However adding EDE after Arcade joined is no problem. :hugs:

OK Daveh, tried this. Dismissed Ed and went to Arcade, and instead of the generic responses, he actually had the prompt for me to ask him to follow me...and he said "you've already got quite the menagerie" and I was told I can only have one companion...when I had zero. On a hunch, I went back to the 38 and invited each companion then dismissed them. Each allowed me to invite them, so THEY didn't think I had companion issues. I went back, Gannon still wouldn't join.

Then I remembered, Rex wasn't at the 38 for some reason. I went to the Kings, he wasn't in the lobby. As I went upstairs to find him, he shot past me running downstairs. I gave pursuit and he vanished out the door. I went out, and he bolted for the strip before I could talk to him...he runs a *LOT* faster than I do. I got to the strip door, went through and snagged a convo with him before he bolted...he was still my companion, though he wasn't before, I had Ed and Arcade. I told Rex to go back to the 38, then went to the 38 to check, he was still there.

Back to Arcade, still things I have too many companions. Any more suggestions? BTW, thanks for helping me on this, I really want to do the Enclave quest so I need him.

Another data point...I had a save before I went to get Ed so loaded it up and went straight to Arcade. When I got Ed first, Arcade didn't say anything, but after I got Rex, he said I already had too many companions. Trying to get Arcade first, he said I had too many companions. Went and got Rex, then tried Arcade, the same. Reset Ed, same. Wide open to suggestions here, frustrated that I did the DLC and now I'm stuck until this is fixed.

That same thing happened to me with Gannon, but not beause of the dlc. I wanted to use grandma (Lilly) to do the nightstalker quest, so I told Gannon to meet me at the 38. When I dismissed grandma and went to the 38 Gannon did the same thing to me. Maybe it messes up because he s the only one u have to get on a speech check IDK. He had the damn AER 14 top lazer rifle and a bunch of other crap he s hangin out in my place but won t come with me. I gave him like a fallout week then I had to kill him to get my crap back. It made me mad because I haven t figured him out yet and I was on to something with him. He says Enclave all over him up he seems about 35 years to young. No one tell me because Iike finding out on my own. I think its an all around game bug that has to do with the speech check not the dlc.

I realy have no idea but in your case I would try...

1. pick up and dismiss every single companion. Return to Arcade and hope for the best.
2. If on PC: Jump over to the New Vegas forum and ask for a cheat that forces him to join.
3 If on PC: look after any mod that allows unlimited number of followers, and bypass it that way.
(The obvius mod seems to be redflagged. Sorry I have to sleep. Cant type)

It is? I though SM was that thing Veronica's into. Can't be much help as I don't have DM, another casino just doesn't interest me.

Equipping Rex as my only companion allowed Arcade to join me again.

I'm having the exact same problem. I get the "You have quite the menagerie" line from Arcade even though I don't have any companions. None of the many tricks I've checking into will fix it. Checking on a save from before I did DM and I can recruit him fine, but I'll lose over 30 hours of game time if I start over from there and I'm just not willing to do that.

I already had Rex as my only follower. I also tried getting ride of every but no. I ll have to do a run through just for him and not do any dlc. I ll just take him around to get his story.

So patched...and I still have this problem. Does anyone anywhere know of a way I can fix it such that Arcade will join me again?

The scripting error, in which you speak of, has already been enacted, so no amount of patches will fix it without starting a new play thru. There is only so much a patch can do. It can fix it from happening again, but not from reversing what has already happened. If you have a save from before you left for the Sierra Madre then reloading from that save would probably fix it, but if not.... sorry dude, I'm afraid your current play-thru is borked.
