Yes, but he doesn't do it, since it's the generic Nord dragon slayer that is the story dragonborn. (most likely)

If dragons were to be permanent then your character would need to be dragon born and I don't see that happening. The next ES might be a completely different era

well if aldiun isnt around for the next game, would you still need to be a dragonborn to kill dragons as aldiun wont be there to resurrect them?

For the sake of not making it too complicated and creating an impossible-to-kill race, dragons, I'd have to say it is possible to kill them without absorbing their soul.

i think a dragon could be added into a new tes game, would make a cool boss or maybe it teaches you some sort of dawn magic to solve the plot. I don't think that bethesda would make them a common enemy in new tes games, i mean you don't see any oblivion gates or a ton of deadra wandering skyrim do ya?

likey this, dragons would either be powerful badass bosses or friendly wise teachers of some sorta.
