So are Dragons a permanent part of The Elderscrolls now?

Post » Sat Aug 11, 2012 1:24 pm

So yeah. Main quest, Alduin defeated blah, blah, blah. But Dragons are still flying about, and if

Spoiler
You let Paarthanax live, he mentions the Dragons finally istening to him now.

So yeah Dragons are still around does that mean they'll have a consistent role in TES now? Maybe trying to spread their influence in different parts of Tamriel, or will Bethesda go the lame route, and just have them go back to Akavir?

No. they are the main antagonist of skyrim, the future games in serie will most probably come up with new fresh ideas

If dragons were to be permanent then your character would need to be dragon born and I don't see that happening. The next ES might be a completely different era

So.. what? Bethesda is just going to hand wave them away? I certainly hope not. Dragons are awesome, and I want them interacting with Argonians (in a positive manner of course).

What? Your character doesn't have to be Dragonborn for there to be Dragons around. There was a Dragon who was a Mercenary/Bodyguard in the game "Redguard", and you weren't dragonborn there.

Dragons being apart of Tamriel =/= Fighting Dragons all the time/

i think a dragon could be added into a new tes game, would make a cool boss or maybe it teaches you some sort of dawn magic to solve the plot. I don't think that bethesda would make them a common enemy in new tes games, i mean you don't see any oblivion gates or a ton of deadra wandering skyrim do ya?

Uh... they always were part of the series.

You just didn't saw them, because how rare they were. Now they became more common, so you might see a couple in the future, but not the same way you did in Skyrim.

I'd be surprised if the next game doesn't have dragons, they'll just play a smaller role. ES6 will not have any "dragonborn" in it because too many people don't care for "shouts"

Yup. They just didn't act like a horde of darkspawn until Skyrim.

I meant "part of the series" as in "seeing them, and talking to them on a reasonable basis".

you will find a large group of people here who think dragons are uninteresting and unoriginal. a lot players here at the forum only played the main quest once, never really seeing the dragons... i personally hate it whenever they landed near me in game

They were just invisible, and very quiet. At least thats what the Khajiit in the orange robes told me, he seemed like a real straight shooter.

There was a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Nafaalilargus in Redguard.
As to whether they'll appear again, it depends on the willingness of existing dragons to reside in the place that is setting of the next TES.

i can already see this, a very few dragon lairs full of treasures and a really tough dragon guarding it in mountains across High rock or whatever other province the next game will feature *-*
would be amazing a very few and epic dragon fights with amazing rewards in the next TES, maybe the only pieces of dragonbone armors/weapons of the game like the daedric armor from morrowind

but if the next came is just as casual then dragons isn't too unrealistic, i mean, they are about the most casual video game enemies out there

I think it's unrealistic for them to just slay all dragons for the next TES.

However, I do think it's realistic that dragons become very rare. The blades, combined with the canon dragonborn, would most likely slay a huge amount of them. A number of say, 30, could remain on Nirn. Some would leave the province of current TES lands, while some would remain.

highly doubt it, from the pattern i've seen in past TES games, the next game will be in the future about 600 years or something like that, plenty of time for the dragons to die off and with out any thing or one to revive them... personally i did not mind them but after 90 hours their just annoying. I enjoy walking in the wilderness but when i hear them i just fast travel, don't want to have to deal with them dragging me around the map.
