Are the Silver Hand really so bad?

Post » Sat Sep 22, 2012 6:54 pm

What did they do? They don't like werewolves? So what. A lot of people don't. They don't do anything bad. Hunting werewolves is bad, but hunting vampires is good? I don't understand.

I could care less about the silver hand really. I don't think they're evil evil. They just lack depth. They seemed like normal bandits to me.

I don't think of the Silver Hand as evil in fact I never think about them at all. It would be different if they had a back story instead of just being there and expecting me to dislike them.

I wouldn't care about neither (werewolfs/vampires), if it wasn't for their mutual hobby of eating people alive.

So yay Silver Hand!

I would have loved to see the Silver Hand developed more, as a joinable faction, allowing the player to take either side and on the Silver Hand side of things, cleansing Skyrim of the werewolf curse.

As it stands, they are no different than generic bandits. A non-werewolf experiences the exact same hostile response from them. I think it was a missed opportunity.

Not necessarily evil, but they are so extreme they make the Dawnguard look pretty reserved. And the Dawnguard is lead by a man to extreme for the Vigilants of Stendarr.

Why are some people lauding them? :ooo: They killed all of the werebears. They took a feature out of the game! And not just a feature, a much-demanded feature!

I would much rather be able to become a weretiger because black stripes are so in.

I played a weretiger in D&D once, he became constable of a small town, largely because no one wanted to argue with a nine foot man-tiger.

Because they murder without discrimination, it doesn't matter if the werewolves are dangerious or not they kill them simply because they exist. They do so for pleasure not out of some duty to protecting the peoples of skyrim. I haven't heard of the dawnguard nailing vampires to walls likw the silverhand does to werewolves. If you approach the dawnguard as a vampire but without siding with the Harkon they simply tell you to get cured, there really isn't evidence they hunt vampires that don't deserve it.

Somehow they get through Whiterun (security is terrible we know) Then they get into Jorrvaskr and kill Kodlak Whitemane.

bottom line is... ALL OF THEM MUST AND WILL DIE. They were underestimated and chose to attack when they knew I wasn't there.

And the reason you can't join them is because werewolves are not implimented into the game like vampires are. There is no cave of wolves, random werewolves in the wild. Maybe the odd one after dawnguard.

I would have liked to have been able to find their hideout and at least learn a bit more about them. Would have been a good filler for the companion quests. Every npc has a home (even the homeless ones- damn narfi) something with an organisation behind it should have been a little more fleshed out with a named leader etc. maybe have them in some random encounters or something.

To me, the Silver Hand seems like nothing more than a group of bandits with a vendetta against werewolves and the Companions. More than likely, the Companions were hired to kill one of their old leaders and transformed to do it, but didn't wipe out everyone. Some of the bandits survived, with knowledge of the Companions' secret. They regrouped and reorganized themselves to be more prepared to fight werewolves (hence the silver weapons and the cure disease potions they carry) and renamed themselves as well.

They're still obviously bandits. They have all the dialogue and whatnot of ordinary bandits and will attack you without provocation even if you're not in the Companions.

Deus ex machina my man.

I don't like them because they have wolf fights and eat dogs.

Just because they attack you if you stroll right into their forts does not make them bandits. Imperials and Stormcloaks do the same if you haven't picked their side.

There might be some instances where some werewolves seem to have been tortured, but even the glorious empire had something like that at least in Helgen.

They're no worse or better then any other group of bandits. They just happen to have it out for the Companions more then anything else.

Say wha? Ive NEVER in any game been attacked by Imperial nor Stormcloaks for strolling into any of their camps or forts. I'm camped inside one now as we speak. The Silver Hands though? I've simply walked by one of their forts and they attacked.

Huh? They yell and make threatening gestures like bandits, even from rather far away if they spot you.
I once dismisser a follower inside a castle I just captured with the legion, as my follower slowly wandered off, all the soldiers started harrassing and finally killing :(
