Are you going to wear [Clothing] into Honest Hearts?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:15 am

Who here are going to use [Clothing] when entering the DLC and why?
For the extra challenge?
Or just for fashions sake?

* And if you're going to use [Armor-Light-Medium-Heavy] then please go to SayAnything's thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1190936-what-armor-will-you-take-into-zion/

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to use the Dead Money Jumpsuit.
I recently started playing a Melee character who runs around in Clothing articles and the increased difficulty that came with this self gimping was just too much fun to not use for Honest Hearts.
So my main reason is to up the challenge and give the tribals a fair chance to kill me.
I also chose the Jumpsuit as I thought it was a fitting clothing option for someone going on a caravan, I know the merc suits or the carvaneer clothes would be better but I never liked them.

Merc Grunt outfit
Authority shades
Ranger brown hat...

...because i dont really care for any of the armors save the Ranger Combat Armor, but I plan on traveling light. I might start to use any armor I find if the locals start kicking my butt. :poke:

dO YOU REALLY NEED to make a thread about this when there are ike 5 others around you?

We have one for what armor: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1190936-what-armor-will-you-take-into-zion/
And one for what overall equipment: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1189574-what-equiptment-will-you-take-into-honest-hearts/

This thread is for discussing the usage of clothing articles in Honest Hearts.
Like why people want to use clothing or why people don't want to use clothing in the DLC.
So it's, hopefully, going to be a bit different from the others.
But it's not "the same" as them, it's similar, but not the same.

Ontopic: Please everyone, remember to explain why you're going to use clothing articles instead of armors, if you're just going to post a list of what equipment you're going to use then use this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1189574-what-equiptment-will-you-take-into-honest-hearts/

Yup.
But also because I want to see how many else are going to give the tribals a fair chance to hurt the player.

Ranger red scarf outfit with shades and a roving trader hat. My reasons are less weight, looks great, and I actually take damage to work towards that achievement for healing 10,000 HP with food

You don't know this. 20 bucks says the tribals have a ton more hp than player, and their garb somehow has a large DT

Hopefully not.
Didn't like how the PL tribals could take my damage like a dominatrix customer and how they could deal damage like a dominatrix.
Even if they are more powerful it only means that the challenge will be even greater and more fun. :D

I never could get into switching my outfit for towns and the wasteland.
I always forgot about what I was wearing so in a town I get attacked and the damage is minimal and out in the wastes I get completely brutalized from forgetting an armor when going toe to toe with deathclaws.

*Raises hand for clothing*

For one character though, for role-playing reasons. I've made it through Dead Money without DT and Stimpacks, I can sure darn do it again!

I haven't worn any regular clothing in New Vegas yet, but in Fallout 3, I had some characters who only wore Pre-War Business Wear, since it was the coolest clothing there. I may wear one of those trench coats though, have only found 2 so far, kinda sad.

If you're up for a challenge go against a dozen Bighorners with a low-tier weapon, clothing, no companions and only food items for healing.
Those things are surprisingly challenging when you're gimped to Narnia.

I'm just worried about the Yao Guai's in HH though, and the Greek Gecko's or whatever their name was.
Like, I met 5 fire gecko's in a cave an hour ago, I had a fire axe and a low CND raider armor on me (3DT in total) and usually Fire Gecko's are... Well, easy. But this time? I had to reload 5 times before finally going ninja on them and avoiding their hits like Neo.
So Yao Guai's and Greek Gecko's will likely be my fear in HH, I remember how Yao Guai's were in FO3, spotting me from a mile away and then popping up to surprise attack me.
Good times, good times.

I thought about bringing a paor of clothes that would enhance my perception or luck, but determined that it would not be a good idea incase I got cornered. My character is a sniper and I'm taking a long gun and a sniper rilfe along with me. Granted that some clothing may do well for me in a perticular situation but over all I felt it would be to much of a hassle to change in and out. I like to mainly play with what character abilties are so if I dont pass a speech check or something its because thats the way I want to play through it that time.

I also thought of having a jumpsuit kinda like the dm one with the repair bonus but my repair is pretty high so it didnt make my checklist.

If anyone is going in wereing clothing and prepurchased it on steam a while back I would suggest using the armor that came with that pre purchase content, I found it wonderfully durable and worth while in various situations.

I love the Armored Vault 13 Suit you get with the Classic Pack. I pretty much wear it the whole game, even at the Dam for the Legion assault.

I've always blamed the moonshine.

I'll be going in the Merc Grunt outfit, maybe a 1st recon beret (I've skipped that quest so far on this character). Otherwise, trader hat.
I'm cheating slightly because I have two levels of toughness and the armor implant.

There's a quest for it? (I just blow Boone's head off of the Dino and take it. )
