$59.99... are you KIDDING me?!

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 11:50 pm

I'm now 20 hours into Skyrim and I've realized that I MIGHT have seen 5% of what the game has to offer... suggesting that with multiple characters this game could just surpass Morrowind in the hours I sink my life into it.

All my beefs from Oblivion and almost all of the design changes I had prayed for and even modded in have been done in a super polished way. The dialogue is art. The characters look and sound unique to me and I don't feel like I'm talking to "generic_breton_00001." The landscapes are sweeping and surprisingly different despite the Norway fjords-without-the-fjords landscape theme. Magic is for the first time incredibly sixy to me. Combat scaling feels good at Expert difficulty, though slight hp bloat is there --I guess I need more points in 1h damage. Leveling is now a JOY. I'm not afraid of doing smaller skills or picking primaries or worrying about how many times secondaries have leveled up so I can get my glorious x5 multipliers.

My only honest beef is the menu UI. It would have taken only a couple dozen man hours to make a good PC ui and a sortable inventory --at very least one with subcategories.

Thank you for making such a work of art that will likely svck up 500 hours of my life, with me loving every moment of it.

I've payed this much for games that were really well polished but had almost nil replayability and a game time between 25 to 50 hours.

$59.99 to me does not in any way reflect the enormous gap between this game and the other single player titles that I've payed for. I guess I'll buy a few copies for friends and hope you put as much love and money into your next title =).

The sneaky bugger wanted us to think this was a complaint! Naughty naughty.

Though besides thread title, I agree with the OP.

Glad to see you're enjoying it :)

I think mods will iron out smaller concerns such as the interface when modding tools are released.

Games like TES should be sold with a higher price. :) So much time has been put into making the game, and it gives so many hours of enjoyment. Very high replay value, especially with mods. It isn't just a "burger game" that you finish in few hours and then dump to never play it again.

One of the few companies were a day one release is always well worth the price, if not a steal really. Put it this way, I payed the same price for Fable 3. :P (Not to be construed that I hate it, I actually quite like that series. Just a fun not to serious romp.) Once you put that on the scale oh life, it doesn't measure up quite the same.

Glad your enjoying as I am. :)

No, games with lesser content should be sold with a lower price. TES games are worth 60 bucks, give or take a few. I wouldn't pay much more for one. It's the other games that should be 20-40 dollars.

I couldn't agree more. This game puts every other game to shame. I seriously was asking myself how they accomplished this feat. Either other developers are lazy or Beth have magicians working for them.

GREAT GAME BETH I APPLAUD YOU!!!!

Definetly a steal. I almost feel quilty paying only 50€ for Beth's games. Almost ;)

Yes, because raising prices always brings more customers in.

This game would get a ten from me if it weren't for the screen cutoff on my SD tube.
And the lack of assigning things to the D Pad kinda svcks.

I completely agree. A shame that games like this aren't priced higher, at least as some kind of incentive for developers to invest this much time, effort, and thought into games like Bethesda does for the TES series. I consider TES to be the Lamborghini of PC games, and I'd be willing to pay more for similar quality.

You people are sheep...

You're the reason we got this "half-assed" "console port".

You guys the dude from Animal House getting smacked with the paddle on the ass screaming "Please sir can I have another."

59.99 for crappy "console port" is not a good deal... Nor will the 10-20 DLC they shove down our throat every 2 weeks... Yet you'll bow down and act like it's the greatest [censored] ever.

Lemmings and sheep...

Reason why PC gaming is dying...

It's funny, because all the complaints that people are FREAKING out over are, in reality, very insignificant.

People need some perspective, and need to realize the absolutely massive scale of this game. To make a game this big with as few (minor)problems as it does is a testament to the talent at Bethesda. Well done.

Precisely. It's not that the complaints that the naysayers have aren't valid, it's just that they're way too tiny to ruin the game.
