There should be an arena, not online though.

I miss the Arena from Oblivion..

A potential DLC could have you taken captive by an Argonian raiding party, they sell you to an Arena somewhere in Black Marsh where you have to fight your way to freedom. At the end you are released into the small town nearby, this gives you a glimpse of the province of Black Marsh and allows you to explore this new town and chat with the Argonian natives. You can also harvest some of the native plants there and sell them for a tidy profit back in Skyrim. There's a boat you can get back to Skyrim, however you can return to the town to repick the ingredients, trade with the merchants or take part in weekly or monthly arena fights for gold. Perhaps even bet on fights if it's possible.

Perhaps make it a small island of the coast of Black Marsh (if there are islands) for obvious reasons. If there aren't islands off the coast then make it one in the middle of a very large deep lake that serves as the barrier, you can swim out a while into the lake before you get the you cannot go that way message, or whatever it is in Skyrim.

Couldn't agree more. I hope ESO doesn't give Bethesda any ideas when releasing new ES games, such as online play.

Yes that's the Elder Scrolls Online, ESO for short. I just hope it doesn't affect the single player focus of Bethesda made ES games.

No, I'm tempted to out of support for the Elder Scrolls series in general, but MMO's really aren't my thing, especially since ESO will basically force you to team up with others, at least in WoW you could do most quests on your own.

I may well try it out if a trial version is released.

i dont think it will force you to group up, i think it will be like WoW just in the ESO world

No they've already stated it's more focused on teaming up for quests, unlike WoW.

Bethesda isn't making the MMO and Todd Howard doesn't like multiplayer rpgs, so likely no PvP in Skyrim, which I dont mind at all.

The arena should have been in Skyrim. Arenas are an elder scrolls tradtion. There's no excuse for not having one in the nation of the warlike nords. The fact that they didnt add this gives off a vibe of laziness, and I will honestly be angry when they inevitably try and force me to buy a dlc for something that should have and has been in the base game of previous TES installments.

I know Bethesda aren't making the MMO, doesn't mean they couldn't be influenced by the success of ESO into including some element of online play into their own ES games though.

I'm confident it won't however there's always a chance.

I understand your point, and it's a valid one. As I said though, Todd Howard doesn't like that sort of chocolate in his peanut butter. Interviewers ask him that all the time and he answers the same way. He says it calmly for appearance sake but you can tell that inside he's screaming "MULTIPLAYER IN TES WOULD svck! STOP ASKING ME ABOUT IT ALREADY!!!!" haha.

Edit: Back on topic though. Not including the arena was a video game travesty.

No online. If its online then might else leave it to elderscrolls online.......
But Arena, surprising bethesda didnt add one in skyrim. DUnno if its pure laziness or an intention to leave it to dlc. In fact, i think a skyrim dlc will contain Arenas in the future. Maybe The Elder scrolls V: Skyrim DLC whiterun arena?

Arenas are an elder scrolls tradtion.
If this is true then Arena, Daggerfall and Morrowind are not part of an "Elder Scrolls tradition."

I would rather they polish existing features, fix bugs, and address difficulty balance issues. I am willing to make an exception for cloaks.
