Armored Husky Appreciation Thread

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 3:14 am

Even though I'm a 360 gamer, I can't wait to see the mods after PCer's get the DLC.
I will be using these dogs from here on in, I really didn't like the original dogs. But for some reason these huskies really appeal to me

the question is why were the vanilla dogs not huskies

The dogs in the vanilla where http://www.wolfhound.it/php/downloadFile/downloadFile.php?mode=news&id_news=31&priority=1&def_img=immagini/spacer.gif&prod_down=0&crop=0 which still fits the back drop of Skyrim. Their a big, strong breed that handles cold temps well and is large enough to fend off wolves, Huskies also fit in well with Skyrim because they are another working dog.

Who, the dogs in game or real life ? The Wolfhounds that you get in the vanilla game are quite close to the real thing, Wolfhounds are as big as Great danes.

Oh ok , well I havent even gotten the trolls yet, or recruited Gunmar... but I just noticed two armored huskies hanging about in a room in Fort Dawnguard, they were named, and the option to talk to them comes up, but they just look at you.... I will wait until I get to the troll companion part and see whats up.

No, they wont follow you until you get the guy that trains the trolls. I tried and they would only bark at me, until I got whatshisface, then they started to follow me.

Next time your by Markarth stand next to one, their back is as tall as your toons hips. While sitting their heads should be about waist level.

I sided with the Vampires on my main character so my equivalent of those dogs are my epic Deathhounds.

Well, since they don't respawn, and the AI for most NPCs in Skyrim seems to be legendarily thick, I'll think I'll pass on using these puppies in combat. It's a shame too, because I just started playing Fallout 3, and Dogmeat will never leave my side once I get that PUPPIES perk. I really wish we could do more with the dogs in this game than just have them sit and wait, go home, or follow.

My toon is Lv.81 and Bran's a fricking TANK !! Nothing has even phased him as of yet, I've already got 2 legendary dragons under my belt and Bran was a big help with both

And that's the AI being dumb again. I'm huge on sneaking.

Though now that I think about it, do the NPCs actually hear the dogs bark? I know some say "stupid dog," but will bandits become alerted if my pup decides to make noise?

well im not really a sneaker, but i had a quest where i had to stalk a guy and kill him discreetly, and he would chill in the middle of solitude and in a bar, outside i was behind a rock (the sneak eye was already open) and he barked a couple of times and it would not close

Believe it or not but these Huskies seem to be smarter then the vanilla dogs. Bran has yet to get in the way and will keep a good distance between me and himself, he will also lye down as soon as you stop moving. I haven't taken him into caves yet but he handles forts like a BOSS.

Ya ive taken the one that starts with an S.. and hes pretty wicked, the new companions in general have good Ai. They wander and look around. The trolls.. well.. they dance infront of dragons

No the barking is not what gives you away, it's the stupid dog being too aggressive and running a head of you or they play dumb and are just within sight of the NPC's. Barking alone has never gotten me busted in all my hours of playing.

I wonder, can you take one dog, have him wait in your home somewhere else, and then grab another dog?

That's good, although I have to ask if they fixed the abysmal AI for the vanilla content? And are followers the only ones who got an education, or are the bad guys smarter now too?

Dancing trolls sounds amusing, and I'm glad the dogs are worth using. I just wish we could designate attacks for them, have them heel and not attack until I start attacking, or best of all, take them hunting and have them track prey.

Can the dogs die? I only use trolls because they are not named. And can you have a dog and troll out at the same time?
