ATTN: Bethesda! Future Tech May Unlock TES VI Unlimited Pote

It looks amazing but I wonder how will developers scan dragons and thousands of other objects to put into game.
And how are they supposed to change their specialization so much, from creating 3d world to scanning objects.

Actually, it probably wouldn't change as much. Still would need to place the objects, and create the land. And not eveyrthing can be scanned. After all, how would you scan the White Gold Tower from Oblivion? They'd probably make use of a 3d modelling software used in those 3D printers, and find a way to convert that to this "new" format.

I'm still reserved about this- we've got people saying they've seen the same thing a year ago. And with the creator giving a huge promise and little explanation, it just reeks of a scam. Snake oil salesmen use the same tactics; if you have FO3 and the Broken Steel DLC, just listen to the salesman in front of Underworld- he's a good example of what I'm talking about, if over-the-top.

It's a nice theory if it works, but it's been pretty heavily debunked from most reputable sources.

I hope the reputable sources are wrong of course ;p
There are no reputable sources that spoke out against them in any sort of legitimate way that Euclideon couldn't counter. If you're implying Notch in any sort of way, your opinion is already invalid.

They can still create anything they want to with any program they already use and are familiar with, the only difference is that they would no longer be limited by detail in any way, only limited by imagination. This is the natural next step in gaming. Also, you only scan objects to put into the games if you're using something from a real-world source. Mainly because you could save tens of dozens of hours scanning in some sand rather than creating it yourself.

Its not a scam technology.....but it's far from being ready....give it another 5 years and we might be able to use something from it.

Hey, that's about as much time each TES game takes to develop!

But seriously, sounds too good to be true, probably won't be implemented into gaming in the near future, voxels, scam, Vinegar Ra, etc, etc...

Edit: Mother of God, I just now realized how old this thread is.

Except from the people who actually know something about the technology this engine uses... and those peeps were promptly ignored .

EDIT: And it's only been three months. Only a moderate necro, at worst.

I've been blamed for a necro on a thread that was only two weeks old on the front page of a forum (on another site). :dead:

But we'll just have to wait and see in 5 years if this will actually work. Technology has to progress sooner or later.

I'd call that just a mild necro . And, yeah, it'll be a few years yet before Euclideon has a product, rather than just a project.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Just like we do now on older games. I could just imagine someone 10 years later found this thread and saw all the non-believing comments on here. It's just like how so many doubted anyone could reach the Moon.

I'll admit, it was a bit of a necrobump/gravedig, but I felt this topic deserved some more discussion, so I bumped this thread rather than recreating a similar one.

they will eventually all "disappear" in mysterious "accidents" or they will be scared off or bought off or simply they will just get ridiculed to death.

doesn't anyone remember that artificial cell thing a while ago????????????????? the one that was to solve the world's fuel AND pure water problem!!!!! man they really buried it good.
What makes you so sure? You got a single fact to back that up?
EDIT: just realised that game is long gone. Damn you necrothreader!

errr... the discussion, for the most part, already ran it's course. i also haven't heard any new news on this project since the thread was made so i'm not certain anything of value could even be added to the discussion aside from opinions

On the bright side, for the last two years they do a 'what we'e been up to for the past year' in April. With any luck they will do the same thing again this year and hopefully either it will prove its not what it seems, or it will silence the nay sayers.
