Clarification: There is no global AH, but there are guild AHs.
and we also have very little info on how they will work. So before people start to freak out like some always do about every little bit of info like this, just keep in mind we have no real idea how this works yet and as the game is still in development it can and will change and evolve before launch.
This man gets it.
People are being melodramatic over a feature that no one knows 100% how it will work. Cannot say that it's a bad idea till we get more information of the feature.
No AH? fail game is going to be a huge fail.
Guild AH? Whats the point of that, guilds are suppose to be about helping each other and giving things to each other for free, and how big do they expect guilds to be, most players in mmo's have the bad habit of just making new guilds, most guilds will be under 10 players for sure and an AH won't work there
I'm sure there will be plenty of guilds that specialize as AHs. After I heard about this I've already decided that I'm going to make an AH guild and will invite people all the way to the cap and it's only there so people will have a good way to trade goods between each other.
This is what I don't like about this system, as we understand it right now.
1) People are forced to join a guild to use the AH.
2) Anyone who wants to sell or buy an item will need to check all 5 guild AHs just to get the best deal.
3) Because there will be so few people using each AH, there is much greater potential for huge price gouges.
4) The guilds with the best AH have to potential to charge just to use their AHs.
5) Some people might not get lucky enough to be able to get into a large guild. So, they have no access to an AH, or at least no a useful one.
6) There was no real reason for this in the first place. The devs could be working on much more important features than online shopping. AH were fine.
I know some of you see nothing wrong with this system or simply don't care that these problems might come up, but it bothers me.
That having been said, this system might work, but I doubt it.
If a guild has no upper limit on max number of member, there will be no problem
Thank Mephala no global AH! (Old news, but still...yay!)
You say that guilds will force people to pay to be apart of the guild to use the AH, can't other guilds do that too? I mean, you make it out to be that only AH guilds could potentially make members pay to be apart of the guild, when in reality any guild could do that. Especially guilds that make their members pay a tax to stay in the guild to keep it afloat.
If there is no limit and thousands can use the AH in one guild, what would be the point in not just having a global AH?
The stated purpose is to create a stronger community bond. Whether that will happen or not, I don't know. I doubt it, but we will see.
As to not being able to get into a "good" guild, this is a motivation for guilds to have more people join. More buyers and sellers helps everyone. So anyone who can't join a good guild is going to be the kind person who has no friends because people actively avoid him/her.
As to the rest, change guilds if you don't like their policies. We don't know how you interface with the AH so you may automatically search all the AHs at one time etc.
In other words, let's make sure the sky is actually falling before we panic. May just need an umbrella for the hailstones.
The huge difference is, if people are forced to join just to use the AH, that is B.S. So, if I don't like guilds, but I want an AH, I'm forced to join and pay fees to a guild I do not even want to be part of.
The point that Paul Sage said was to build community between the guilds. I don't see any problem with them trying to make guilds cooperate with each other.
Or find an AH guild that doesn't make you pay to join. It's not like they won't be out there. You act like every AH guild will force it's member to pay to get in. I'm going to make an AH guild and NO ONE will have to PAY to get in EVER.
Community building. Millions of potential players remember? Even on WoW I rarely knew or cared who i was buying and selling to. i occasionally made a deal with a specific person, but that was only because I was major player in the linen market.
Wrong, you could find a guild that doesn't charge fees. Or make friends with someone in the guild and have them buy stuff you.
Okay, so according to you guys, if I see something i do not like, I should not post how i feel. I should not state what i see wrong so they know to the potential pitfalls. Just be happy and say the game is perfect.
Got it.
Or, it's more the fact that we are telling you how to fix your issues.
You have an issue about guilds paying for their members to get in. I told you that not all guilds will be like that.
There's a difference between telling you not to post and trying to work out your fears.
Guilds already do that when they become friends normally.
How is having multiple guilds all having an AH going to make it better. Even if one guild has different stuff than another, all that does is make people want to join more guilds to get access to that stuff.
99% of guilds do not charge fees. Not every guild is Goonswarm. I honestly doubt we'll see Goonswarm much in ESO since it is so instanced and limiting. If they can't completely take over they usually don't even bother showing up.
Then respond to all of them. Go down my list and please explain how those things are not bad.
Right because disagreeing with ones point of view means were telling you to just shut up. Get real man, discuss what you want but be prepared to be disagreed with and don't get all butthurt about it.
This can be a way to let the players (without GM interaction) deal with botters and other unwanted cheaters
