Bad News for XBox 360

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 11:40 am

I am playing a legitimate copy of Skyrim, picked it up at midnight release. It is 2:13am Friday morning as I type.

As expected, I got the patch (there was only one, 3MB) and started playing.

The wall textures, basically most of the ambient textures were pretty bland, but the character models and equipment looked amazing!

Then I decided to install it, against my better judgement actually, and I lost pretty much all hand/weapon textures.

The walls and other things in view look noticeably better, at the cost of character textures.

I uninstalled and cleared the cache but unfortunately, I am stuck with the 'installed' version, it would seem.

I suppose the only other option would be to format the HDD, but that is something I'm not prepared to do.

I definitely preferred it running off the disc.

Hopefully this will get patched. This is the number one complaint I have heard so far, and trust me.... Pete has heard about it a LOT and I'm positive Bethesda knows about it.

The way I see it right now, you are making a choice:
Excellent character/weapon textures and bland environments (not installed), or Better environmental textures and virtually NO character textures. The fingernails and joint creases on the fingers vanished. It is virtually a block of solid colour (installed).

And for now at least, once you install it is stuck like that.

I wish I just left it alone, to be honest. The wall textures being bland wasn't really noticeable and didn't worry me, but the character models losing texture is a real eyesore when playing in 1st person.

I think it was gamebandits that released an artice saying that beth was releasing a day 1 patch that fixed the texture issues. So... ya there is a day one patch

EDIT: it was a lazygamer article

The day 1 patch has already been released. If you play the game right now, you are going to get a pacth. That IS the day 1 patch. Now we need another Day 1 patch, which don't expect we'll get.

If that is the case than why is there already a patch out for the game? What exactly is that patch if not a Day 1 patch?

Its not bad news for 360, you have installed when its confirmed in numerous threads here and in articles on the web, with or without the patch, installing phucks up the game... uninstall and try again, and stop making the game sound bad :brokencomputer:

How about releasing a game that doesn't screw up the graphics just by installing it on a Hard Disk. What a novel idea.

The patch goes from the first patch, released before full release, that makes the game v.1.2

Day one, that releases around midnight in the US east coast timezone takes the game to v2.0 and fixes the texture install

That doesn't make sense. If It's reading from the disk, in lieu of the HDD, how is it NOT different.?

That will be fixed, these people shouldn't even be playing yet so i have NO sympathy whatsoever, the numerous 360 users on this forum say its stunning visually, textures are fine, and guess what, they didn't install..

Someone already mentioned a good size second patch coming right after release, it was on the forums last night at some point. Do a search I guess...........

Can you PLEASE support this claim with factual information. It doesn't help anyone if you just assume these things.

And there is proof of that where? I have yet to hear one word from anyone with technical knowledge at Bethesda, I exclude Pete's Tweet because he doesn't know what's in his own game which has been proven.

Todd or GStaff or someone should be posting on the forum and telling us that there is another patch to fix the texture problem.
