Ballistic weave - Random Drop?

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 1:40 pm

Semantics matters sometimes. OP asked if ballistic weave could be picked up as a drop from enemies. Someone answered that they have picked up ballistic weave as a drop from enemies. I corrected them that it was ballistic fiber, which is used to craft the ballistic weave mods. I guess we see it differently. I felt that it was a worthwhile distinction to clarify.

No, Railroad Armored Coats do not appear in the Armor Bench menu for modding.

Oddly though, Courser Outfits do though (just made one last night). I look smashing! Of course I've never seen a girl courser though.

Yeah, ballistic fiber vs. ballistic weave is an important difference. The fiber is useless on its own. People want the armor mod, not the crafting materials. So similar to saying, "hey, does Jet drop from randos?" and people saying, "oh yeah, I get fertilizer all the time."

That won't do.

Also IIRC it actually doesn't matter if the weave drops, because you can't remove weave directly (without mods). You have to craft a different level of ballistic weave on a clothing piece to get the original armor mod out. Which you can't do unless you're RR. So even if Armored Clothing Item drops from enemies, you have to wear that specific item. You can't move it to another clothing item yourself without the RR perk.
