Bathrooms in Skyrim!

Post » Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:48 pm

So yeah, I was always wondering. Where do these people drop the cargo? Ok in Morrowind we had mostly some tribes and all, all cities were more or less villages by size and all, but still.
People of Cyrodiil even had fancy castles, horses, Universities, but still...no bathroom?

Would you like to see bathrooms, at least in more civilized cities?

Well, the ones in Fallouts make me want to start on screen housecleaning. So no, I don't care about the Nordic methods of excreting bodily waste.

Considering this level of technology probably lends itself to chamberpots that get dumped in the woods... (Unless the Mage Guild made a plumbing system using magic, but then they'd charge people a fortune per use. :P)

I'll say no as I would rather they focused on other things then the John.

Do Nords have souls? Let's hope they at least have deep garden holes.

Fallout did it fine. I did not think that way back in those days they had toilets or even bathrooms. Who knows?

It was a bit unrealistic that their where no toilets in Oblivion it would be nice to just see a toilet don't have to see people using it through

Yes!
Actually, I think there were 'toilets' in Oblivion, did anybody notice the broken chests that had a toilet seat shape cut out in the top?

It would be pretty easy for them to add an outside house for doing the business. Put like 1-3 in a town. It would make sense.

With the lack of bathrooms I always just assumed they had a spell for that.

I'm pretty sure that waste freezes pretty quickly up in Skyrim. If anything, this is the one game in the series that can get away with no sanitation systems. :P

If anything though, the larger cities should really have massive sewer systems considering their age. Something akin to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edinburgh_Vaults would be really, really cool.

They wouldn't have bathrooms so much in common houses, they'd have a pot they would empty into the street or local latrine pool. Castles would have toilets in the form of garderobes that drop the crap into the moat. Moats should be nasty in the games.

Yeah, I doubt there'd be bathrooms. Maybe the rich would have elaborate holes in a closet? Or something. But ew. I don't really want to be reminded of poop every time I roam through someone's houses.

Yup, actually some medieval towns had this, and even older castles had some kinds of places for this- for example old castle in Croatia had a room where people would do the job, and it would fall out down the mountainside :P

I personally think the opposite: it'd be a bit unrealistic if there were toilets in Oblivion.

Now, if they want to throw in the occasional chamberpot and latrine hole, more power to them.

That would be sweet for assassination quests

NPC "Oh it's 6'oclock time for my usual dump"

*NPC walks into bathroom*

"Is that someone with a poor Chameleon spell i see!"

I said yes under the assumption bathroom is more of a term for time appropriate things like chamber pots etc.
