I've been thinking about settlements, and I wonder...

... just how high we can build. I mean, from the e3 building footage, it's at least six stories. I suppose this means that we are able to build whole cities on the scale of Megaton.

We will find out in a little over a week! Personally I'd like to build a tower of some kind eventually. A glorious mast rising out of he wasteland, a beacon for all those who see it! Then they get there and I make them serfs, lol

If I can go tenpenny tower high, and booby trap each floor but the top.... that'd be cool. I wonder if there are elevators or not?

I'd honestly be surprised if there weren't elevators, considering all the other crazy stuff you can make.

Considering you can make power generators flamethrower turrets and possibly even guard robots, I don't think an elevator is out of the question(unless Bethesda didn't think of it).

Well there is an elevator you seen being used in the gameplay trailer so it would be a shame if there arent elevators.. id imagine them not being that hard to be modded in if there arent though.. since they are already in the game in a sense.

When exiting the vault, that type of elevator could work.

I've been wondering that myself, and it appears to me the buildings are about 3 stories tall, which is still pretty tall.

I'm not sure, but you might be able to build several buildings in each area, if so then you might be able to build walkways to each building.

That would be quite an undertaking! This one wishes you all the best in that endeavor.

Yeah I've been thinking about how high we can build, wouldn't mind some elevated turrets looking down on any intruding raiders. To scale the height of ten penny would be awesome!

I wanna do this too. Should be pretty cool. Even just 5 or 6 stories high will be a lot of fun to build up, and hopefully one of the settlement sites might be on a hill or something with a nice view of the wasteland...

Nice! I too am planning to build a big ol tower settlement with a two-layered wall with guard posts and turrets defending the permeter.

Build a wall around the tower, plant crops behind the wall and assign guards. Problem solved. ;)

I think that if the building scripts aren't that hardcoded, then I think the modders are in for a treat. Who knows, we might see cities as big as Novigrad. ^^

Looking at the footage you can see some tower like structures but nothing near as tall as tenpenny tower. Also, we haven't seen anything that looks as grand, everything just looks like a ramshackle hut no matter how it's built. So far, there doesn't appear to be any way to make a structure look "pretty." I kind of hope you could just restore previously built buildings as well but we haven't seen anything that resembles being able to do that.

True, as much as modders enjoy building things, I'm sure we'll see plenty of mods that deal with just constructing settlements.

All my buildings will be at least 3 stories high. The first floor will be blank with no access to upper floors. The layout of the buildings will be a C shape with a single building in the center. That single building will be the access point to the upper floors that are bridged together. It will be heavily fortified with turrets pointed inwards to make the inner portion a death trap. The opening of the C will have a gate, if possible, that will allow attackers in to their death.

I learned to build walls of death in Age of Empires...build walls to your base with towers along them firing down, leading through several sets of gates so the enemy AI thinks this is the way in :bunny: ...meaning they slowly move down inside the walled area past the towers towards the gates getting fired on the whole time...

youd need alot of guard posts for that though... or robots (cus apparently robotic expert will allow you to have robot guards)
or turrets everywhere lol
