What would you consider the best weapons for archery in Skyrim?

The daedric bow has the highest base damage, so that, presumably.

A bow that has been improved via grindstone after using the restoration potion glitch and making a smithing potion and drinking it.
The best non-glitch bow should be Daedric.

Not taking into account enchantments and non-standard weaponry, of course.

The Nightingale bow just peaks the Daedric bow's base damage if you're high enough level, and it's enchanted, I believe.

I recently smithed both the Nightingale bow and a Daedric bow to legendary, and the daedric bow has considerably higher damage. (Which was dissapointing as I wanted to use Nightingale)

oddly enough the Forsworn bow will last you quite a long time at the early levels and until you get the high tier bows you should use it

My personal favorite is the Ebony Bow. I really like the design and over-all look of the Ebony equipment (as far as weapons are concerned...), and it does a great amount of damage as well.

If we're talking straight damage-based, then I'll have to agree with everyone else who said Daedric.

Daedric upgraded (smithing) and enchanted to drain max stamina (keep an extra enchanted to fill soul gems - it rocks). Use Daedric arrows, of course, and remember to add archery top booster items (head, neck, hands and finger). Good hunting.

I've been using the bound bow and it seems pretty strong. Coupled with that Conjuration perk that increases bound weapon damage I thought it was supposed to be comparable to the daedric bow, but that's just something I heard. Anyone else use the bound bow?

It depends. Ther are two that shine for different reasons.

For active combat - The Hunting Bow will give the highest DPS.

For Sniping - The Daedric Bow is the top choice. All arrows will rise a bit from the bow when shot, travel on a straight path for a given distance and then drop at the end of the flight. This straight distance is based off of the Bow's weight. Daedric weighing more makes it better for long range accuracy.

Hunter : _...---~~~~~~~~~---..._

Daedric : _...---~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~---..._

The drawback to the long range shots is the way the game handles the arrow damage in relation to the Navmesh, the distance being shot and the target draw distance. This is adjusted on the PC with a couple of lines added to the ini files. This increases the distance the arrow can inflict damage without changing the directory of the flightpath. No more shooting arrows through Dragons or Mammoths.

bound bow with duel wield, all perks in both trees and 100 archery and conjuration. Works like a charm!
