Dawnbreaker, daedric greatswords, daedric bow. Oh and Volendrug and the rueful axe

Going by looks only: Longbow & Iron sword. The rest look too fantasy for my tastes.

What's so ridiculous about them?

Have you seen the Deadric Warhammer?

When I do heavy armor, I use Daedric weapons, but they are a bit over the top, as is the armor. There's a kind of aesthetic discontinuity between Daedric weapons and armor and every other kind of weapon/armor in the game.

My favorites: Ebony weapons. They look how it seems they should look: high end but rugged and usable.

My absolute favorite weapon is the basic staff model, the one that looks like a dragon. They did a nice job on the staves in this game; I like the Staff of Magnus and the Sanguine Rose too.

As a whole, I've been pretty pleased with the look of weapons in Skyrim.

That being said, not really a fan of Daedric beyond the daggers and bow. I personally won't use anything that doesn't have a scabbard of some kind - just looks dumb hanging off the hip (at least glass has an ornate loop). I like the look of the ebony one-handers, but not the two-handers. Love what they did with Glass versus the Oblivion style - easily the biggest improvement in my mind. Iron and Steel look great. Orcish is kinda meh, but fits with the style. I like the straight edges of the Dwemer weapons. Kinda meh on the Elven weapons, though the dagger looks great.

I play a mage 90% of the time, so I only use "weapons" sparsely, but the ebony and glass swords (one-handed) are my favorite. The conjuration staves (specifically the Summon Storm Atronach) are my favorite looking as far as a typical mage "weapon".

The head of it looks a bit like the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:OB-creature-Siege_Crawler.jpg at Oblivion's World Breaker realm to me.

I like the design of the elven mace probably because it was in the first gameplay video ... the deadric greatsword and bound bow look pretty badass too.

I prioritize a weapon's function over its looks usually. The eye candy is more important when you have an audience with the jarl.

ancient Nord weapons IMO are the "best looking" by far

I think people overlook them due to their strength in stats. But by means of looks it is awesome

you mean besides that the whole daedric stuff makes you to the perfect... super villain?

edit: i have to say i like the look of elven daggers somehow. well.... i like all weapons, though. things like daedric weapons/armor are just way too over the top. like i said... super villain

In my opinion I wanted more fantasy styled weapons. I guess I'm still stuck in a world of warcraft mindset, but I think a little eye candy would be good, than the boring ancient nord sword model, which has been overused.

There's plenty of eye candy with the weapons.

I've really been digging the ancient nord sword of late. It looks nasty, and I like that. It's like daedric, but with the sleekness removed. Jagged

I like Dawnbreaker, Mace of Molag Bal, Ebony weapons, Chillrend, and Daedric Weapons. My least favorite is orcish and dwarven.

This thread shows that taste is such a subjective and personal thing that no two people could possibly like the same things...I HATE the way the glass objects in this game look. In fact, for me, most of the weapon models in this game are terrible by 2012 standards. They're way too big/thick and some look downright impractical. You can't call something a hammer if four spiked prongs protrude inches away from the blunt edge. Talking about the Deadric warhammer. And the silly serratedness of the other deadric weapons? Come on, I know this game was marketed toward a younger crowd than the older TES fans but don't insult their (and us older types) intelligence by thinking more spikes/sharp points = WOW SO COOL.

Honestly my favorite models are the steel ones. They obviously got the most love. Hell they're even the sharpest at medium settings for PC. Also the pock-markedness of the iron weapons looks good and representative of the metal they're made from. The dwenmer objects are the second most beautiful, and the most practical looking considering the ones who made them. All the dwenmer stuff is thick and tough looking, perfectly representing a culture so isolated that it would more likely be at war with itself than outsiders, therfore their thick weapons look like they could indeed penetrate or significantly damage their thick, heavy armor. Same for the Orc weapons. The edges of their blades tend to be wavy and irregular, perfect for cutting into thick flesh that might be resilient to a sharp edge. That's some good attention to detail there. Then we have glass....ugh. Glass weapons at least look the sharpest of all the weapon model types, but I just can't stand the color scheme. And as for silver, that was just horrid. Way beyond in fact.

Agreed all the staves look amazing! I don't use them but I collect them.
