Best potions? Anybody get 4 effects?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:04 pm

I think Bethesda must have spent a LOT of time to make sure we can't get 4 effect potions. It's not complicated to get 3 effect potions (very good for selling usually)

My best usable potion so far : Fortify 1 Handed/Fortify Health/Restore Health

and just how do you use "Spoiler tags" now??

Cool - I bet that potion will sell for a LOT of $$$$

And only 2 ingredients - that suprises me!

ps re your sig - only problem is you usually have to kill the guy in handcuffs - 'cause he's a witness otherwise (svcks really)

Haven't found any Crimson Nirnroot yet

And I guess Bonemeal and Berit's Ashes do same thing - again haven't found any Berit's ashes (I wonder if that is a 1 time thing??)

Make Elsweyre Fondue!

Ale
Moon sugar

10 minutes of effect!!!

Yeah - it is GREAT for those long tough battles. I buy every Eidar cheese wheel I find, check with all alchemists and innkeepers and even other vendors sometimes have one (armor stores for example)

No you don't. Bug the justiciar until he attacks you. Then you get off scot-free once you kill them.

The first one is new to me, and an EXCELLENT defensive potion!!!

The 2nd I knew about, and ALWAYS buy every bit of Ectoplasm I find at vendors, and faithfully re-visit the few sites where you can kill wisps

3rd is new, although I had a variation on it

I'll add a 3 effect potion : Garlic/Taproot/Vampire Dust gives Regen Health/Regen Magic/Restore Magic

I was under the impression that to get effects from potions with more than two ingredients, you had to be at a pretty high Alchemy level. I don't think I've ever gotten to 60.

I don't think I've gotten a potion to have 4 positive effects. Most valuable potion I made did something like resist magic, regenerate magicka, fortify destruction and damage stamina, or something. I was almost at 100 alchemy and 1 potion of those was worth almost 3000 gold...

Hah! Impossible to get four effects? Try making Five-effect potions!
Jarrin Root + Human Heart + Blisterwort is a five-effect poison. (Damage Health, Damage Magicka, Damage Magicka Regen, Damage Stamina, Frenzy)

You can also make mixed-bag potions:
Creep Cluster + Mora Tapinella + Scaly Pholiota is a five-effect potion with a grab-bag of four positive effects (Fortify Illusion, Fortify Carry Weight, Regenerate Stamina, Restore Magicka) and one negative effect (Weakness to Magic).

Glow Dust + Glowing Mushroom + Hanging Moss is a five-effect potion with three beneficial (Fortify Destruction, Fortify Health, Resist Shock) and two negative effects (Damage Magicka and Damage Magicka Regen)

Bear Claws + Hanging Moss + Sabrecat Eye is another five-effect potion with the same two negative effects as the above, and Fortify Health, Fortify One-handed, and Restore Stamina as the positive effects.

Silverside Perch + Daedra Heart + Sabrecat Eye is a fourth Five-effect potion that doesn't know what it's trying to do: Damage Magicka, Damage Stamina Regen, Restore Stamina, Ravage Health, Restore Health. I guess it's useful in a pinch, but it takes back everything it gives you :P

D#mn, those are some good potions, some only good for selling for BIG $$$, but the Bears Claws/Hanging Moss/Sabrecat Eye is a great potion for Warrior or Thief

That 1st one would make a really strong poison on your sword

The one with Creep Cluster would be OK any time a Mage isn't figgting other magic users

It is really easy to level Alchemy - just pick ALL the Mountain flowers, Thistle, Lavender, Tundra Cotton, etc you can find and make a bunch of cheap and maybe useless potion for practice. You can always sell the useless potions. I've been level 100 in Alchemy since I was a level 32 Mage - I did buy a few levels of training early on

ya getting to level 100 alchemy is extremely easy. the more powerful the potion you make the more it gives you skill wise. thus you'll need to make like 900,000 restore hp potions to level a couple times, or just like 5 awesome invisibility potions, type of thing.

alchemy is easily the best money making system in the game IMO. i can clear out an npc stash for like 1k gold, and make potions that will end up making me 20k. just takes awhile to actually sell them all off, haha.
money is actually kind of pointless now actually, and became pretty pointless come bout level 30 or so for my character.

it is actually insane how strong alchemy is tho. might be the strongest skill in the game, maybe 2nd to enchanting. i can make potions that give me +130% 1h for 30 seconds (2300 attack power for 30 seconds? yes plz), or like +120 or so hp for 300 seconds blah blah. and you can literally create any potion for any type of character you have, its crazy. my equip is so strong because i created a +130% smiting potion...its pretty nuts actually. alchemy makes the game too easy, even on hardest setting lol

If you think Alchemy is strong in Skyrim, you should try it in Morrowind - you could get to God like attributes!

Yes, crafting is the name of the game. My current character is concentrating on it. With enchant, forge, and alchemy you can excel at anything with minimal perk / skill points.

But to create a 130 smithing potion effect, you must wear 5 enchanted items of fortify alchemy. No?

Been there, wrote the code to do that.

http://209.46.18.232/wiers.us/skyalcwb/index.php?pots2ing=yes&pots3ing=yes&minEffects=5&page=1&useEffects=1&reqEff=&exEff=&useIngs=1&reqIng=&exIng=Berit`s%20Ashes,%20Crimson%20Nirnroot&&page=1

That's a work in progress, the new version has a MUCH better interface, and the DB is getting tweaked so it can list potions by value etc (because actually, some 4 efect potions beat out those 5 when it comes to sales value and xp earned).

Not sure they stack anyway, but you can have ring, necklace, and helmet - AFAIK - other pieces of armor won't take a Fortify Alchemy enchantment

Probably gonna get smashed to death for saying it, but i LOATH potions. Always experience having to quaf a potion a sign of weakness. I rather kite a mob if possible untill stuff regens then go in inventory and start quaffing heals and such, unless its absolutly necesary. Always end up with tons of looted potions because i never use them ...
I think its a disease i picked up from Diablo I, stock up on full inventory with healpotions and see how long you can last on them, wich was usually not very long :D so now i play every RPgish game with them in the same way, not use them unless its absolutly necesary. Lmao
