1.8 Beta Update, Solstheim DLC hints - Thread #14

Post » Thu Oct 18, 2012 1:48 pm

Is it just me, or is the idea of going back to Solstheim kind of disenchanting?
It is a little odd that Bethesda chose to make a DLC in Solstheim again, but there has been many changes in the last two hundred years, which will be pretty interesting to see. For me personally, I will love visiting it again. It's like heading back home.

Nope, I'm quite happy to go back and see what the Dunmer have done with the place. However... that changes if anything Hircine-related is involved.

Aww, come on. If it's true that the tears of Hircine's faithful sustain you, you should want werebears to be making an appearance in this DLC. The tears of joy would sustain you for the next 9 eras at least! And they'd be much less fattening too.

I'm not particularly surprised we are going to Solstheim, just because there are only a few likely candidates to travel to from Skyrim. I personally thought we would be going to High Rock in an expansion pack, but I will gladly take Solstheim. I just want to see new areas, new art and environments. I have seen so many forests and snow-capped mountains, I am hoping for a radical change of scenery.

Also, the dunmer aspect of Solstheim is particularly interesting to me since I play an evil dunmer vampire.

These findings have made IGN

http://m.latinospost.com/articles/5566/20121016/skyrim-dlc-news-dragonborn-introduce-dragon-mounts.htm

Normally I wouldn't care because IGN, but then they name dropped Mardoxx. Awesome, he's getting his credit!

But at the same time they never even mentioned Solstheim, but of course mentioned Dragon Mounts and threw around erroneous assumptions of new spells. You never change, IGN.

I feel the exact opposite actually. I love the idea of seeing an old place changed. Plus it reminds me of a MW throwback that warms my nostalgic soul.
Hopefully in the next game we won't go back to the SI... but that's just me. I just feel like it's a bit of an anticlimactic moment. Don't get me wrong, if this is true, then it's obviously going to be something great; filled with gripping quests, witty flashbacks, and interesting new content. It could be cool to see how the Dunmer reinvent the place, and how the Skaal have reacted, but the fact remains that it's been done already. I'm hoping that maybe more than just Solstheim will be added.

I wonder if we'll get some good old magic effects back: Resist Normal Weapons, for example. I doubt that we'll see new skill trees :(

This is the issue you seem to be missing, there is no objective quantity of content. For me, the amount of lycanthropy already in Skyrim is sufficient. I enjoy it, I love playing my werewolf and I love the new perk tree. I am done, I am content. And therefore, I want something else to quench my thirst for Skyrim and TES lore. You're entitled to want more lycanthropy or anything else, but you have been trying to convince me that there is an objective quantity of other aspects of the game, which is simply not true.

For people who love smithing, there is no such thing as too many weapons. For people who want all the lycanthropy, there is no such thing as too much too many weres. This is the whole point of what I have been trying to convey to you during this exchange, my opinion that there is enough lycanthropy and that more would be redundant is not something that you can argue or disprove. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I have expressed mine more thoroughly than I care to.

Me having an opinion that you don't agree with is not an invitation for you to try and convince me to agree with you or disprove my opinion.
All I'm trying to say is that when people make statments like "Werebears are just fat reskined werewolves" makes no sense becasue anything new to the game will be a "reskinned" version of something else that we already have in the game. It's not like us Werebear fans are asking for some were-pokemon or some totally non-lore related creature. Werebears are native to Skyrim and should've been in Skyrim since day one.

With this being called "Dragonborn" most likely, I'm praying we'll at least see a Thu'um tree in the vein of the Werewolf and Vampire trees from Dawnguard.

It would mean we might have something to spend our spare dragon souls on..

Everyone still thinks H2H means hand to hand combat? Silly. This is clearly a special speech perk called heart to heart where you can have an engaging conversation with any human character you want.
+1 for H2H. Always want to be a legit ninja in Skyrim, but never had the chance.

Also, they should add in addition to shouts, the ability to just "communicate". Maybe it could revamp the Speech skill tree.

So like when you equip "Threaten", tap the shout button and it will just say something to a single person/enemy like "I'm going to break your neck", and if you hold down the shout button you will be communicate to everyone: "I'm going to roast you all in a bonfire and feed you to the wolves".

And if you equip "Threaten" and yell at followers or friendlies, for example, you will be like "GET THE [censored] OUT OF THE WAY, LYDIA", and she will be like "Hey that's not nice", and you yell back and be like "SHUT UP" :D

Or when you're in sneak mode, "Threaten" would be like "I'm going to give you an atomic wedgie before I slit your throat", or when you hold down the button you'll be like: "I'M BATMAN" to an entire group; and if your Speech is high enough, it would scare them and/or lower their perception to give you a chance to sneak attack.

Vice versa, if you have "Sweet Tongue" (or something like that) equip, you can mock, play mind games with your enemies while in combat and lower their perception, defence and attack; or if you Speech is high enough you would actually convince enemies to stop fighting and commit honorable suicide.

:wallbash:

I can't imagine they would include new Hand to hand combat without making it a full perk tree. Didn't Beth say they didn't intend to raise the level cap? I think it would be weird if they added an unarmed perk tree that doesn't contribute to your character's level.

I would like to see the level cap raised up to 100 and a few new perk trees included. I'd also like to see tailoring included, so players can craft a wider variety of unique clothing options with more colors and patterns.

That would svck alittle and I wouldn't mind 100. I always thought 81 1/2 was kinda odd.

But back on topic, I wonder if spears will be in the two-handed skill?

Where is this Mardoxx and why no new posts of code line pics. Frankly none of you know anything and are just adding your hopes. Let's see some posts of code that's within 1.8!

No need to insult us, nor is there any need to demand Mardoxx post anything. Perhaps there's nothing else to see in the patch?
